Here’s How To Play Hard To Get With A Guy You Really Like

We all know the phrase ‘treat them mean, keep them keen’, and when you’re crushing hard on a someone who isn’t giving you as much attention as you’d like, playing hard to get can be a great way to have them reach out to you. However, you don’t want to push them away too much as this might mean they think you’re not interested in them after all and might make them give up on you. So, here’s how to play hard to get with a guy you really like.

Method One: Don’t Always Initiate Contact

If you’re always the one to start the conversation, then try to hold off from doing so. It can be super exciting to talk to someone, especially if you really like them, but if you constantly talk to them first then it can mean that they get lazy and won’t start the conversation with you. If you see that they’re online, try to hold yourself back from jumping in with a message asking how they are and instead leave it and see if they message you first. Chances are they will, especially if they see that you’re online as well. Don’t use this method excessively though; you don’t want them to think that you never want to speak to them.

Method Two: Encourage Him A Little

When things are going well, it can be tempting to gush to the object of your affections how amazing they are and how great things are between the two of you. However, this isn’t always the best way to go about things, especially if you’re aiming to play hard to get. Instead, firstly keep things vague – if they ask you what you’re doing at the weekend, say that you’re not sure. This means that they have the opportunity to ask you out without you heavily hinting that you’d like to go on a date. If they do ask you, say that you had a great time and that you’d like to do it again sometime. This lets them know that you’re interested without being too full on, and also means that the ball is in their court to ask you out at a more specific time. They are still working a little for your attention, but they won’t be too discouraged.

Method Three: Recognise That You Don’t Need Them

One of tips on how to play hard to get is simply to treasure your own independence. When you really like someone, it can be easy to pin all your hopes and dreams for the future on them, and think that you need them to be happy. Once you recognise that you don’t need them to be happy, you’ll feel a lot more confident and free. Enjoy doing things by yourself or with friends, and just have fun without worrying about being with the person you like. If you do this, not only will you feel a lot better, but if they see how happy and confident you are, it will draw them to you and encourage them to reach out to you.

Method Four: Just Don’t!

If you really like someone, the best way to get their attention is usually to tell them how much you like them. It can be super scary to let your true feelings show, but if you want to have a relationship with that soecial someone, then honesty is the best policy. If you’re very nervous about it, you don’t have to tell them in person and can text or message them instead. Whilst there is a chance that you may get rejected using this method (which really sucks), it’s far easier to just be truthful than to try and play mind games with each other and attempt to guess if they feel the same way.
