How To Manage Your All Of Your Social Media Accounts

Social media is one of the biggest preoccupations of our time. Keeping up with family, friends, followers and work by staying on top of all of your social media accounts is overwhelming and can be difficult in our digital lives, especially when they are an important part of your work and your life. That’s why we’ve come up with some of the best ways to manage all of your social media handles.

Set goals

To stay interesting when toggling between multiple social media handles, you’ll want to set goals and plan ahead for how much you want to post per week or per month etc. For example, if you are a vlogger, you may set yourself the task of producing one vlog per week. Setting goals ensures you stay motivated to want to keep up with all of your accounts, since you’ll have a target in mind that you’ll want to achieve (so stick to it!). Doing this will set you up for the next tip…

Compile content categories

A good social media handle looks consistent in its posts and in its overall message, and this takes organisation. To avoid confusing how you portray yourself between accounts (for example your LinkedIn profile is for business so don’t go uploading a sunlight selfie that probably belongs on Instagram) have set content categories of the kind of posts that you want to produce for each of your accounts. This may be more personal, brand focused or opinionated content that you want to delegate between your different social media handles. This way, you won’t fall into the trap of re-posting the same things on either of your accounts.

Make a schedule

Balance is key, so making a schedule that you can regularly follow for uploading content and checking your accounts will not only encourage consistency, but also helps you prioritise your activities. You can do this by creating a calendar for when you want post your content and what the type of content is that you want posted. You can plan it on paper or if you’re having a hard time doing it on your own then there are loads of apps and management tools out there like Meet Edgar which are great for this. Remember allow yourself some spontaneity for at least one social toggle like randomly checking Facebook for family and friend updates when you feel like it won’t hurt.

Keep it organic

It’s easy to fall into the trap of posting whatever comes to mind but try to avoid spamming posts on each account when updating them. Staying organised is the best way to stay afloat and maintaining your message in ways that suit each of your accounts is vital. Keep it simple and keep it you otherwise others will notice if you’ve changed your tone of voice. You also want to make sure you are catering to the right audience so whilst you want to keep in character you also want to remember who might be viewing your next post, considering you have different audiences in your social media handles.

Come back to it later

Things always look a lot clearer after you’ve been away from them for a while. Your chances of getting caught up in all of your different accounts also decreases dramatically if you put some distance between them. So no need to panic anytime soon if you forgot to post something on a certain day, you can do it later. You’re not a robot, unless you’re using one of the management apps (in that case we can’t give you an excuse, sorry!). A fresh perspective will mean that you can meet yours (and others’) digital needs much more efficiently.
