1.Join a Gym Class or Sports Team

One of the best ways to meet new people is by joining a sports team or gym class. Not only will this new hobby help you get in shape, but it’s a great way to socialise with people away from work. Team sports are particularly good for bonding with a new group of friends.

2.Volunteer with a Charity

Another way to meet new and like-minded people is by volunteering. Places you could volunteer include Scouts and Girlguiding, at animal rescue centres and working with homeless people. Not only is volunteering easy to start and a great place to meet new people, but it is also a great way to give back to your local community.

3.Make friend with your Work Colleagues

One place that you’re guaranteed to be around people and have to talk to them is at work. Make and effort to talk to people on your lunch breaks and make plans to meet up outside of work. If you’re in the same job then you’ll probably have similar interests, so get chatting.

If you’re moving to a new city, use your current friends and connections to meet new people. Find out who you know who lives where you’re moving and get to know some of their closest friends, or tag along when there’s a group event happening. Just be yourself and they’re bound to love you.

If you’re a bit shy when it comes to social situations, use the Internet to meet new people and make new friends. Find groups about particular interests you have in common and then, if you feel safe, meet up in real life. This is a great way of meeting like-minded people whilst not having the initial fear of putting yourself out there.

If you want to have an active social life and make new friends it’s important to be a yes person. Accept invites to hang out and brave going to parties or events even if you don’t know many people there. Every occaision is an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, so be positive and put yourself out there.

Arrange activities for you and your mates. Nights in watching Love Island, a cute brunch or even just hanging out in the park on a sunny day are all ways to keep your social life alive. Instead of waiting for someone else to organise meet-ups or make plans be proactive and be the organiser.

8.Stay in Touch with Uni Friends

Nowadays with social media it’s easier than ever to stay in touch with friends from your past, so moving back home doesn’t mean losing all your uni mates. Keep Facebook groups of all your friends and arrange trips to visit each other, or group activities such as holidays or day trips.

9.Make Yourself Available

There’s no point in trying to make a load of friends if you don’t have any time to spend with them, so make sure you’re giving yourself a break and have time to have social life. Take evenings off and treat yourself on weekends. Life isn’t all about work so make sure your looking after yourself and hanging out with people who make you happy.

If you’re looking to make new friends, it’s important to be confident in yourself and believe in who you are. Be brave enough to go up to people and talk to them and show off what a great person you are. If you’re confident in yourself other people will sense this and want to hang out with you, so be the person that everyone else wants to be around.
