Tips On How To Conceal Acne And Use Less Product

Acne is the complete opposite to a confidence booster. It scars your face, leaves you spotty and not to mention makes your face painful to touch. Anyone who’s suffered from acne as a teen or adult knows how stressful it can be to always feel like everyone is staring at your skin how to conceal acne.

One thing you can do to cover your acne is use make up but this can leave your skin looking cakey and horrible if you use the wrong products. This will result in you layering up your makeup which not only wastes it but actually makes your skin look worse.

So what do you do?

Here is how to conceal your acne and use less product

  1. Start fresh.

Make sure your skin is clean and moisturized to give your makeup the proper starting surface. Even oily skin needs moisture! If you don’t moisturise then you will need to use a lot more makeup.

  1. Apply primer.

Using your fingertips, apply a primer to ensure the rest of your makeup goes on smooth and stays on all day. Primer is great before applying foundation over acne as it acts as a barrier to stop your pores being blocked. I recommend using Smash box’s Green photo finish primer as it has colour correcting properties which will stop any red acne showing through. Wait for the primer to dry before applying any foundation how to conceal acne.

  1. Apply concealer to spots in a criss cross motion.

Try not to use too much concealer by using a small brush or sponge. If you’re using a concealer in a pot — NYC Concealer Jar is a great affordable choice — scoop it out with a new cotton swab each time to avoid cross-contamination from fingers and broken-out skin. Be sure you cover each side of the blemish by applying concealer in an “X” pattern. If you use too much concealer your foundation won’t cover the acne so make sure you follow this method to use less product overall how to conceal acne.

  1. Blend the concealer by gently patting it.

Using the pads of your (clean!) fingers, carefully press your concealer, blending it onto each blemish. Don’t rub it, or you could risk streaky results.

  1. Blot your base with a tissue.

Absorb any excess makeup by lightly pressing a tissue into your skin, allowing you to get as natural finish as possible. This will mean not only are you using less product but you look like you used less too how to conceal acne.

  1. Use a stippling brush to apply liquid foundation.

Apply a liquid foundation, not a moose one, as it sticks to your skin better and requires less product for more coverage. Then in stippling motions, so you can get coverage without wiping off the concealer you already applied, apply your foundation.

  1. Set your makeup.

After waiting a few more minutes for your makeup to set itself, apply either a pressed powder or finely-milled loose powder to ensure it stays put for the rest of the day. Using a large fluffy brush, apply your powder in a stippling motion. Make sure you don’t rub the product on as you will remove what you have applied and will end up putting on more.

Apply your make up like this and you will use less product and look like you have applied less too. It is truly magical how much confidence you can get just from applying your makeup the right way and covering your acne correctly.
