Summer is coming so it is time to pack away your fake spray tan, take a seat and start typing ‘holiday destinations’ on your laptop. Who is looking forward to packing their bikinis and leaving at home their boring work clothes?
Where: Spain
Why: The average temperature is 25C. This fact only should be enough for you to make it your number one holiday destination, right now. Everyone loves Majorca because it can be anything for everyone. It is the largest of the Balearic Island and the 11 hours of sunlight will make your tan shine.
Places to see: Palma, Alcudia and Caves of Drach (east coast)
Food: TAPAS! And this is a must! For wine lovers, there is no better place to try sangria.
Nightlife: Jazz Voyeur Club (Palma), Nikki Beach (Palma), Santorini (Palma)
So, if you are a student and you do not want to spend crazy money on other holiday destinations, this island might be exactly what you are looking for.
Where: Italy
Why: If you are looking for hot and fun summer holiday destinations then this is the place for you. You might have heard of Costa Smeralda and if you didn’t rest assure that Rihanna did! Yes, people, this is where our bad girl Riri gets her tan from.
Places to see: Sardinia has some of the most amazing coasts but they are not close to each other. The south is as fascinating as the north. Cagliari (south), Alghero (north), Porto Torres (north), Cala Gonone (north).
Food: Nothing much to say here girls… we are still talking about Italy. If you feel adventurous then try the different types of cheeses (Pecorino), or their traditional food.
Nightlife: Beach Parties! I have been to the most amazing beach parties in Sardinia and they all ended with a midnight swim in the sea -the water is even warmer at night!
I forgot to mention, this Island has also a pink beach- and no- is it not fake. So, call your friends and pack your bags because you cannot miss this place.
Where: Caribbeans
Why: Hello?? We are talking of the Caribbeans here; shouldn’t this be enough for you to get your bikini on? If you love the sun and the sea, then this holiday destination is for you. The Dominican Republic is the perfect places if you are looking for sun, sand and an affordable holiday destination but still be able to write #Caribbean on your Instagram Story.
Places to see: Santo Domingo, where I’d recommend you to book your hotel; Altos de Chavon in La Romania; Los Haitises Natural Park.
Food: It is a mix of Spanish and African cuisine. Their main dish is Arroz con habichuelas y carne (rice, beans and meat), but also stick to the dishes you know better.
Nightlife: I hope you are ready to party because Punta Cana has the best nightlife -and it is cheap!! Coco Bongo is one of the most popular bars, it has life performances with acrobats, dancer and actors.
Girls, open up your laptop and start booking your tickets to this amazing place.
Where: North Africa
Why: Five stars hotels, sun, wonderful beaches… Do I need to go on? Relax on the beaches and go for a swim in the warm Mediterranean Sea. Aside from all these amazing things, this between all the other holiday destinations also offers plenty of cultural and archaeological draws. But be careful and please inform yourself if you choose this as your summer holiday destination. Tunisia it is not all safe, you can inform your self on the GOV.UK page.
Places to see: El Djem amphitheatre; historic Tunis and the Old Medina -UNESCO World Heritage Site; Saharan Atlas Mountains.
Food: you will find a mixture of Italian, French and African food.
Nightlife: to note that many bars or clubs do not serve alcohol. Le Carpe Diem (restaurant and club); Bar Jamaica (small bar and club); Le Boeuf sur le Toit – open until 2am, if you. Are looking to dance the night away
My advice is: read everything you can about this beautiful place and only once you are fully informed think to book your summer holiday destinations.
Where: South Asia
Why: Close your eyes for a moment. Now, imagine to wake up in the morning and see from your window an infinite blue ocean outside. This is why we should all go to the Maldives, if we had the budget, of course. I choose to list this for last because it is an expensive holiday. This doesn’t have to stop you if you want to book it (it only stops me).
Places to see: Villimale, Veligandu Island Beach, Bikini Beach, Bodu Mora and Vaavu Atoll.
Food: Maldivian food is a mixture of Arabic, Indian, Sri Lankan and oriental flavours, so if spicy food is not your thing, take something from home.
Nightlife: there is more than what our Instagram gurus show us. Don’t worry, some bar will still serve alcohol: Kurumba (Vihamanaafushi), Subsix -underwater bar, 15Below -underground bar.
The Maldives might be the most expensive holiday, but you MUST see it at least once in a lifetime.
These days it is not enough to just visit a place. We want to immerse ourselves into the culture and mostly get all the Instagram pictures we can before leaving.
