Here’s How To Get Rid Of All That Work Related Stress

If work related stress has been bothering you, and you have all the symptoms of being stressed do to your job, these are the best remedies to get rid of it!

Stress is a natural part of our lives. It is a response of the body and brain to any inner or external threat. Some symptoms of stress include feeling irritated, anxious, ‘wound up’, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, etc. But stress is not always bad. For example, it can motivate and help you perform better at job interviews, before taking a test or giving a presentation. Stress can be caused by different factors, which are usually related to family, school or work. Work related stress particularly can affect not only relationships at work but also with family and friends. Tight deadlines, changes within organizational structures in the work environment, boring tasks, harassment and discrimination are only some of the prominent causal factors that can increase stress. So here are some tips on how to get rid of all that work-related stress that’s been bugging you for a while, and take control of your work life.

Breathing Exercises

This is the quickest way to reduce stress. When we are stressed, we forget how to breathe properly. So it is important to spend 10-15 minutes a day practicing long breathing. Sit straight, inhale for a count to four, and then exhale for a count to four. A useful tip here is to place one hand on your chest and one on the belly, ensuring that you are breathing using your diaphragm.

Meditation

Stress won’t go away until you decide it will. Meditate on a daily basis for about 10-15 minutes either before going to work or before bed to immediately lower blood pressure or heart rate. If that sounds impossible at first, you can start with doing less than 10 minutes. Reaching a calmed state of mind is a process, and starting slow can be beneficial for the long run.

If self-help techniques are not working for you, it’s best to seek help and support from a professional counselor. Talking about issues you may be facing is tremendously beneficial for both body and brain, and apart from that, a counselor may guide you towards developing a personalized plan to reduce stress caused by work-related duties.
