The thing with summer in the UK is that we are always and without a fail wholly unprepared for it – mostly because we’re used to expecting summer to roll around once every five years. Up in Scotland (well, Glasgow at least), we’ve been experiencing what I refer to as a heat wave, what my friends who grew up in vastly warmer countries call spring. In any case, it’s hot, I love it, it’s great. I’m out in shorts and t-shirts and it’s the best thing ever. Only problem being that all I normally drink are hot drinks – with this in mind, I’ve compiled a list of inspiration for some great, healthy summer drinks:
This one of the more exotic healthy summer drinks. It tastes of honey, vanilla, peaches, basil, and saffron – as well as being good for your skin, thanks to the roiboos tea and saffron!
Recipe here.
If you struggle getting in your 8 glasses a day, or just want something a bit tastier, then infused waters are for you. This one has peach and lots of tasty herbs, like basil and lemon balm – although you’re free to customise this yourself. Basil, mint, and rosemary would work well!
The thing with Starbucks is that it is very expensive for what it is. Luckily, Rebecca from FoodieWithFamily has come up with a recipe for making this at home. The green coffee bean extract (sounds complicated, is actually very easy to make) gives your metabolism a boost, too, making this healthy summer drink tasty and slimming!
It’s essentially a mojito without all the alcohol and sugar, and all you need are limes, mint, seltzer water, and a sweetener of your choice. Get the recipe here.
This strawberry-basil lemonade has absolutely no added sugar, and is a tasty, refreshing, healthy summer drink! Recipe here.
It’s actually surprisingly easy to make cold-brew coffee at home. All you really need is a pitcher and a strainer! It tastes great with coconut milk. Make it instead of your usual morning brew:
This summer drink is healthy and filling, as well as being really easy to make! Recipe here.
Anything with passion fruit reminds me of summer – remember to use apple juice with no added sugar to keep this tea healthy!
Mix up your lemonade game with this refreshing, tasty, healthy summer drink. It has an abundance of lemon, which aids digestion! Get the recipe here.
This healthy summer drink only has a few ingredients, and is really tasty. Get the recipe here.
