Have Eyelash Extensions? Here’s The Lash Extension Care Tips You Need
Lash extension care is vital to having great, long lasting last extensions. And with lash extensions becoming very popular, here are some lash extension care tips every girl needs to know. Every day, I see someone new showing off their fluttery new lashes on their Instagram story; whether they are just for a one off occasion like prom or for everyday wear.
If you wear lash extensions then you already know you need to brush them and get them infilled every two to three weeks otherwise they will twist and turn and go patchy.
I love my lash extensions, but there is definitely a right and a wrong way to care for them. I have learnt over the years how to care them correctly so here are my lash extension tips you NEED.
Brush them frequently
To make sure your lashes don’t twist and all stay facing the same direction brush them regularly. I brush mine twice a day minimum as I want to make sure they stay luscious for as long as possible. To make sure you always brush them leave a brush in your pocket, handbag, car, anywhere you regularly go. I think I have a brush in every place possible as a constant reminder.
Try not to get them too wet too often
Do not get your lashes wet in the first 24 hours: that is a rule not to break otherwise your lashes will fall out quicker. After that you can wet your face as normal but dry not to soak them for too long at any one time. Swimming will be ok but be careful you aren’t submerged in water for too long; yours eyes may start to sting and the lashes will twist. If they ever do get wet you can dry them with a hair dryer while brushing them, to make sure the all face the same direction.
Buy a good cleanser
To clean your lashes use a good cleanser not just water because water will not remove the residue of makeup. I apply a small amount of cleanser to the tip of a cue tip and gently rub off any makeup left on either my lash line or lashes. You want to prevent makeup build-up as much as possible as it will make your lashes heavy and cause them to drop down. The cleanser I use is Garnier’s Micellar Water for combination skin because it doesn’t break the bank and removes even water proof makeup from my lashes.
Don’t use cotton wool on them
DO NOT USE COTTON WOOL! I repeat do not use cotton wool on your lashes. If you use cotton wool pads to wipe makeup off your lashes the strands of cotton wool will stick to your lashes and will be difficult to get off.
Don’t wear too much eyeliner
If you wear eyeliner it will mean that more makeup residue will sit on your lashes which means you will have to scrub them harder, which will result in lashes falling off or becoming loose. This is a crucial lash extension care tip!
Avoid products with oil in
When choosing face products choose ones which aren’t oil based. This is because the oil will stick to your lashes and make them heavy. Also it can make them become loose meaning they will fall out quicker.
Avoid playing with them
I know I said brush them regularly, but there is a difference between playing with them and brushing them. Do not put your fingers all over your lashes because your natural oils will make them dirty and covered in residue. If you do play with them brush them straight after or rub a small amount of cleanser on them with a cue tip.
Sleep on your back
If you sleep on your back you are less likely to lose lashes because they won’t rub on your bedding or pillow and become knocked.
