Hands Down Best Food In Manchester: Alabama’s

Here’s the low down on the best food in Manchester: Alabama’s all-American eatery, folks. Rustling up breakfast, brunch and afternoon feasts inspired by how they cook on other side of the Atlantic, Bama’s offers way more than just desserts. Think stacks of buttermilk pancakes whipped up from scratch, a hot plate, filled sandwich or muffin topped to boot and drizzled with authentic, Southern-style gravy. They had us at howdy.

Where to Find Manchester’s Coolest Foodie Hang Out

Alabama’s sits bang smack amidst Machester’s hip n’ happening Northern Quarter. Swing by Newton Street, and you’ll stubble on this hidden foodie hang out, appropriately, above the old Roadhouse venue. Inside, many fixtures and fittings have been pilfered from the US of A itself, such as kooky, glass donut lights all the way from Oregon!
Sweet home Alabama’s is in a Grade II listed building and former takeaway pizza joint, now well and truly revived as a bright and inviting, relaxed dining space. The busy, open kitchen in the center means diners can watch as their food is fried, flipped, and plated up.

What to Order for Breakfast or Brunch

Despite the All-American ambience, let’s not shoot around the cactus, Alabama’s is still a Manc-based foodie hang out. So, ya’ll millennials best expect avocado and perfectly poached eggs aplenty. The first question is sweet, savory or both? No brainer. Both. Now, it gets complicated: toasted bagel, sourdough or rye to accompany course number 1, followed by pancakes, vanilla waffles or classic French toast for sweets? Oh, boy! Surely, home on the range was never this tough…

The ‘Eggs & Avo on Rye’ with crispy bacon, fresh tomato and pumpkin seeds thrown atop for good measure could possibly equal life. Especially, if it’s Sunday morning after the night before and experiencing alcohol-induced repercussions.
An Alabama ‘Sweet stack’ special, such as a maple-doused, second-helping of bacon is perfect for afters.

The most Instagrammable grub served at Manchester’s coolest foodie hang out? Everything!

What to Side Saddle

Bam’s is the only foodie outpost in Manchester where you can sample Southern-style home cooked gravy, mighty fine cornbread and grits.

The Sweetest Thing to Swig

Get back on the wagon with two Mimosas for £8 after 2pm daily.

Veggie or the Other One?

Don’t miss health-conscious and dairy-free alternatives, such as the ‘Berkley Bowl’, full of leaves, lentils and sweet potato, or the scorching 3-tier ‘Veggie Stack’; an impressive balancing act of balsamic mushrooms, roasted red peppers and glorious green goodies on top of toasted sourdough. Manchester’s coolest foodie hang out has something to tempt us all!

Wrangle Your Table

8am – 5.30pm Mon – Fri: Bookings accepted online and by phone for groups of less than 5.
9am – 6.30pm Sat & Sun: No bookings accepted (first come first served).
There’s usually a waiting list for Alabama’s brunch booths at the weekend. Prepare to put your names down and explore the legendary settlement under the rain shadow that is Manchester City Center.

Alabama’s wouldn’t be the best food in Manchester without the wait! Tis’ the nature of any beast serving food this tasty. Don’t fear. There’s plenty of independent vintage shops and hipster trinket stores in the notorious Northern quarter to mosey around, while working up an unhealthy appetite.

Let us know what you ordered in the comments. They’ll be bellies full to burst all round when you roll out of the best food in Manchester!
