Which hair colour summer trends will you be hopping on board with this year? Summer is right around the corner and as we head into the warmer months, keep an eye out for some of these hair colour trends. From more subtle brunette tones and blacks to iridescent lilacs and icy whites, what colours will you be rocking this season?
If you’re not quite ready to commit to a darker hairstyle, ash brown provides a great middle ground. It’s a beautiful combination of chocolate brown with a muted slate-grey. If you’re not a fan of bright colours but still want to have a hint of uniqueness, this could be the one for you.
While platinum and icy white shades are proving popular this year, we’ve also taken a step back with ashy silver. It’s like platinum’s more down to earth cousin – they know they look good, but they’d rather blend in. Ashy silver works great for anyone low maintenance. As it’s not an extremely bright colour it does a better job at blending in with natural tones.
For all those out there with natural black hair – this year is yours. Inky black hair is currently in and it’s looking to be a major hair colour trend this summer. It’s a little curious given that you’d expect warmer and brighter tones for the season, but we’re not mad at it. This hair colour is usually paired with a long bob, popularised by many celebrities this past year.
Despite the name, cold brew hair is all about warm brunette tones. This hair colour trend is inspired by coffee, our favourite caffeinated beverage, and works by adding red and mahogany highlights to a brunette base.
If you’re looking for a bold and vibrant hair colour this summer, go with burnt copper. Its a blend of orange and brown on a copper base and it looks stunning, especially when the light hits which really brings out the orange.
Warm, honey shades continue to be the most sought-after blonde, as seen by last year’s popularity regarding golden-hues and sunkissed ombré styles. This year, exposed roots are still in style, a blessing for any low-maintenance blondes.
The previous fashion season saw a plethora of purple hues and it looks like lilac will be making it to summer this year. The shade is also super flattering thanks to its blue undertones. The colour-correcting effect helps to make your skin appear brighter.
Last year wasn’t a particularly big time for icy white hair but it looks like 2019 will see the resurgence of platinum tones. This bleached look has been steadily increasing in popularity this year – I guess everybody wants to feel like an ice queen.
A fiery red hairdo is just what you need this summer to embrace that heat. This hair colour looks especially stunning in loose curls. When the light hits it just bounces off the right spots, really highlighting the bright and fiery crimson red. If you’re looking for something vibrant, you can’t go wrong with red.
Toasted coconut is delicious and it looks just as good as a hair colour. This look involves having a brunette root that melts into bright blonde at the tips, creating a high-contrast hairstyle. The best part about this look is that if you’re lazy at getting touch-ups, it actually looks even better. The longer you go between colour sessions the more “toasted” your hair becomes thanks to the growing roots.
