10 Gossip Girl GIFs That Sum Up Adulting

Although Gossip Girl ended years ago, it’s still an important part of pop culture. With its sassy characters, swanky Upper East Side backdrop, and stunning fashion, it’s unforgettable. And it’s full of relatable quotes and scenes.

Here are 10 Gossip Girl GIFs that sum up adulting.

1. You know exactly what you want, and you’re determined to get it

Your 20s are your ‘selfish’ years. They’re the years where you’re finally figuring out exactly what you want because you’ve done a lot of trial and error to get here. You’ve built up enough belief and gutsy determination and hard work ethic, but you’re still an idealist. Like Blair, you’re not going to let anyone or anything stop you from getting what you want.

2. You’re impulsive when it comes to shopping

You’re a little impulsive, okay very impulsive, and usually go by the method of you only live once. So if you see a gorgeous dress or cute notebook you want, no second guessing, you get that dress or notebook. You’re still learning how to budget and not go from fancy restaurant dinners to two-minute noodles for dinner.

3. You feel like royalty and like you can do anything

Your 20s are all about you. You’re officially an adult and can enjoy all of the freedoms and benefits. Your 20s are the years to go after what you want, to take up those art lessons you’ve always wanted, to splash out on that fancy dress, to travel the world, to treat yourself like the royalty you are.

4. You block out all the haters

It’s time to block out all of those people who tell you that you can’t do something, that you won’t achieve your dream, or those people who just ghost you. You don’t need that negativity in your life.

5. You have to talk to adultier adults

Being an adult means having to talk to a lot of ‘adultier’ adults who don’t always have the most interesting things to say or having to act civil while talking to someone you used to despise in high school. And drinking usually seems like a good option to make events more bearable.

6. You realise you might not be able to get what you want

So you’ve gone after your dream and realised it’s a lot harder than you thought it would be. Your rose-coloured glasses are off and reality has hit you hard in the face. You see everyone else around you achieving your dreams, and it looks so easy, and you think you’re never going to achieve yours.

7. You’ve got someone telling you not to give up

When you feel like giving up on your dream, there’s usually always someone in your corner telling you not to give up. If you have someone (or people like that), hold onto them. They help you realise why you wanted your dream in the first place, and they give you the strength to keep chasing it.

8. You’re excited about all of the new people in your life

You’re full of excitement because there’s just so many new people to meet, there’s new friends who love the same things as you, and there’s plenty more date options. And everyone just seems a lot more sophisticated in their 20s.

9. You find it hard to cope when people leave

People come and go in our 20s, while in your teenage years people seemed pretty stable. Sure a few friendships changed, but it wasn’t too drastic. In your 20s, it feels like relationships and people come and go every few seconds. Everyone’s going at such different paces, and it feels like they’re leaving you behind.

10. You finally realise you’re an adult

As fun as living your life to the fullest in your 20s can be, it can also take a massive toll on you. You go out and drink and party and think you’re loving life, only to come home and realise those nights aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. You’re not as young as you thought you were. You realise the bittersweet feeling that you’re finally getting older and you’re not who you used to be anymore.

Which one of these points do you find the most relatable? What’s your favourite quote or moment from Gossip Girl?
