9 Glasgow Pubs That Are Too Unique To Not Visit

Having spent four years in Glasgow, I’ve come to know the city and its various watering holes pretty well. As the city boasts… I want to say 4 universities, but it may be more, a lot of these Glasgow pubs cater to a young crowd. Most of the ones I’ve listed here are located in the West End and the city centre (as a Glasgow Uni student I very rarely venture outside this area). As there is competition, a lot of these pubs come with a twist – so here are my top Glasgow pubs that are too unique not to visit:

  1. Inn Deep

Inn Deep is the classic first date spot for many Glasgow West Enders – I always enjoy trying to spot those really awkward ones when I’m down here. With its impressive array of craft beers, the pub is right by the River Kelvin, and you can sit by its banks during the summer. In the winters, the arched areas are heated, so you can enjoy a cosy pint! They’ve always got dogs hanging about, which is a plus. They do the poetry/spoken word nights here, too, which are always great.

  1. The 78

The 78 is fully vegan – all the way down to the limes and lemons and wines – and has a cosy, warm atmosphere. They do standard but tasty pub food, as well as having a great range of drinks of offer (alongside a 10% student discount). They do a weekly jazz night, as well as a multitude of other music events during the evenings.

  1. Stereo

Stereo is another fully vegan joint with a great menu and seasonally changing specials, making it a great place to chill in the city centre. They put gigs and club nights on here.

  1. The Doublet

This is quite the old man pub, but it’s a really nice, chill, place. They’ve recently launched their own lager – The Don – and put on a great weekly pub quiz. I must warn you, though; the quiz is a tough one.

  1. The Old Hairdressers

Across from Stereo, The Old Hairdressers regularly puts on gigs, shows, and pop-ups here – this Glasgow pub is definitely worth checking out!

  1. Flying Duck

Vegan again – in case you’ve not picked up on it yet, Glasgow is a fantastic city for vegans – the Flying Duck serves some fantastic vegan junk food, as well as having cheap drinks (they’ve student deals on most nights) and putting on gigs.

  1. Chinaski’s

I had trouble finding this place – the name’s not on the front – but it’s right next to Berkeley Suite. Chinaski’s has a great beer garden, perfect for those rare sunny days in Glasgow!

  1. Panther Milk Bar

Modelled after a speakeasy, Panther Milk Bar is open Fridays and Saturdays, you need to follow neon signs with Tabac to find this place. Their signature drink – Panther Milk, or Leche de Pantera as it’s known in Spanish – comprises of condensed milk, rum, gin, Cointreau, peppermint, and cinnamon.

  1. Arlington

This Glasgow Pub is tiny, so on busier evenings you may struggle to find a seat, but it’s worth the visit. They sometimes have DJs playing in the evenings (or during the days), and it’s a great place to go to for a quick, cheap, pint (or whisky).

Which one of these Glasgow pubs is your favorite?! Let us know down below in the comments!
