10 Gin Recipes So Good You Won’t Believe It

For all the gin lovers around, here some good news: it is possible cooking with gin! For years, dumb how we are, we have had our favorite juniper infused drink just in liquid form. However, it turns out that there is another delicious way for enjoying your G&T. From starters, mains and desserts, a good gin can boost the flavor of your dinner up!

It’s officially gin o’clock! So, a gin themed party is everything you need. Have a look of these gin recipes and get inspired for your next dinner. Once you will try them, you won’t be able to live without!

1. Gin and Juniper Cured Salmon

A twist on the classic gravlax, it is one of the best gin recipes perfect as starter or main. On top of that, it’s really simple. Rinse the salmon and check for any bones. For making the marinated liquid mix the salt, sugar, peppercorns and juniper berries into the gin. Then, stir inside the dill finely chopped. Once the liquid is ready, cover the salmon with it and a baking sheet. Place it in the fridge for 2-3 days, turning occasionally. Serve in very thin slices with bread and Scandinavian mustard. Let’s release the Viking inside of you!


2. Gin & Tonic Oyster Shooter

What is better than drinking a nice gin and tonic? With an oyster in it, of course! One of the most common gin recipes is, indeed, a classy and fresh starter. The perfect way to greet your guests and start your summer dinner. Everything you need is your favorite gin, some oysters, tonic, lemon juice, salt and some shot glasses. Place the oyster at the bottom of the glass and divide the brine between all the shots. Season with salt and dash of lemon juice before adding 1 1/2 oz of gin and 1/2 oz of tonic. Garnish with a lemon wedge and voilà: your appetizer is ready to be served. Cheers!

3. Gin-gingered Prawns

Here we have another gin-based recipe ideal as starter as well as main. Easy to prepare but really tasty, everybody will love it! So, simply melt some butter in a pan, add some chopped green onions and stir till they became softened. Add prawns, cook for a couple of minutes and mix everything with some chopped pickled ginger, some ginger juice from the jar and a generous splash of gin. According to your taste, you can dare with 2 or even 3 splashes. After all, gin is never enough! Cook for one more minute and serve with some toasted bread.

Who have never tried pasta with vodka sauce? Indeed, there was a phase in the cooking world where adding vodka at your pasta sauce was really cool. However, as vodka has no flavour, it was difficult adding a twist at your meal. So, why don’t try with gin? In fact, the texture of our favorite booze is rich and complex with herbaceous and spices notes. Ideal aromas that would work well with tomatoes and will kick your pasta sauce up a notch! Simply add some slashes of gin at your tomato sauce and enjoy the result.


5. Gin & Tonic Scallop Risotto

Perhaps, you have already heard about a risotto made with strawberry and champagne. But, if you are not a bubble fan, here a good news: a G&T risotto is actually a thing! One of the most balanced gin recipes, it mix the sweet and slightly briny flavour of scallops with the freshness of lime and cucumber, everything adorned by the creaminess of the rice and botanical notes of gin. It sounds interesting, isn’t it? Simply cook the risotto as normal adding some gin, tonic and asparagus while it is cooking. Once it would be ready, remove from heat and stir in some yogurt and parmesan. Top the risotto with scallops, cucumber, lime wedges, sliced cucumber and mint.

Everybody loves Bloody Mary: a perfect cure for the Sunday hangover, it’s delicious also in its variation with gin instead of vodka. If you are a Red Snapper lover (this is what is called a Gin Bloody Mary), you definitely should try this grown up tomato soup. In a large pot cooked onions and garlic with some olive oil. Add tomatoes and dried spices, like oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme and marjoram. Cook the mixture for 15 minutes for later adding some beef stock and let cook for another 5 minutes. Once it will be ready, take off the heat and blend till obtain a purée. Return the blend to medium heat, add some tomato paste and, finally, your favorite gin. Serve with some croutons and, if you prefer a thicker soup, add some crème fraiche. So tasty!

7. Gin & Lemon Chicken Wings

We have seen that lots of gin recipes are fish-based. However if you are not a fish foodie, here the right meal that works for you. Indeed, this gin and lemon chicken wings will change forever the way you eat chicken! Mix together gin, sea salt, brown sugar and black pepper. At this point, marinate the wings in the mixture and bake them for 35/40 minutes. When ready, toss wings with the lemon garlic seasoning.
