They ask if you’re okay and if you’re lonely and you reassure them that you’re absolutely 100% fine. No really you love being alone.
Most of the time you’re fine but then a sad song comes on or a lovey dovey instagram post and you’re hit with a sense of loneliness and hopelessness.
Your friends often don’t seem to realise that you’re actually okay being single. You don’t have any responsibilities to another person and that’s pretty freeing.
Being single can be fun, you can pursue fun relationships and you don’t need to rely on anyone else for your happiness or anything else.
You might have a dream about being in a relationship, or be too deep in thought about your crush that for a second you forget that you’re single. Reality always comes crashing back down on you though.
And they’ll either remind you why you’re single or make you wish you weren’t. You’ll decide a hundred times that there’s no one out there for you.
Time and time again you’ll give up on dating and accept your fate of loneliness. You’ll probably try to get pity from your friends and make them compliment you so you don’t feel completely useless.
It’s nice to be loved and eventually you’ll give into your feelings and be desperate for love and affection.
And together you’ll decide to give up on the pursuit of relationships because you have each other and friendship and that’s all you need.
10. But Then One Of Them Will Betray You
They’ll get into a lovely relationship and you’ll become the single friend once again.
Third wheeling will become your new life. Avert your eyes while your friends make out with their significant others and share lovey dovey comments. They’ll still invite you out with them because you’re their friend, but their partner comes too which instantly lowers your rank in the group.
When they see you as the third person at the restaurant table, the other two holding hands and staring into each others eyes, they’ll whisper comments and take pity on you.
You’ll complain about being the third wheel and your friends will take that as their cue to start setting you up on dates with anyone and everyone.
No really, everyone. It’s nice that they care but sometimes you want casual drinks without having to talk to people you don’t know and don’t care about knowing.
You’re fine. Great even. You have so much time to focus on yourself, and it’s so lovely to see your friends happy. When it’s meant to happen it will, but you’re not searching for love any time soon.
