8 Fun Date Ideas For When You’re Broke
Trying to think of fun date ideas when you’re broke isn’t always an easy task. Sometimes dates can be expensive but they don’t have to be. With these 8 fun date ideas, you and your date will be having fun in no time!
1. Paint Each Other’s Portrait
This one is fun regardless of your artistic skills. Invite your date over to your house, grab a bottle of wine and try to paint each others portraits. The end result will either be adorable or hilarious, plus you can keep the portrait forever when it’s done.
2. Go To A Bookstore
Wonder around a bookstore with your date and find books that you both might like. This can be a great way to get to know someone if you haven’t been dating for long. When you have both settled on a book for each other, grab a coffee and sink into the first chapter and let each other know what you think.
3. Build A Fort
Another of our fun date ideas is to release your inner child by inviting your date round, building a blanket fort and watching movies from it. This is the perfect date for a rainy afternoon. Alcohol and snacks are recommended but are not essential.
4. Cook Together
There’s a reason all of the best rom-com’s have a cooking scene, although hopefully, yours won’t go anything like Bridget Jones’s Diary. Pick a dish to make together, easy or hard depending on how confident you are. You can even go all out and dress your dining table up like a 5-star restaurant.
5. Go For A Walk
Maybe the most simple one there is, if you live near some pretty scenery then why not just go out appreciate that on a nice long walk with your date. If you don’t live by any pretty scenery then make a day of it and drive out to the closest park and go for a hike instead. This could go really well with the next one…
6. Go On A Picnic
Instead of the typical and boring drive to McDonald’s or wherever, make up a picnic full of your favourite snacks, a big flask of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and drive down to the closest beach or forest and enjoy a picnic with your date.
7. Visit Some Free Museums
This is a fun date idea that is overlooked and forgotten all the time and it’s a shame. Loads of museums are free entry, or only require a small donation and usually don’t have any time restrictions so you can spend as long as you like there. The same goes for public gardens, these are usually free and don’t have any time restrictions other than opening and closing times.
8. Do An At Home Alcohol Tasting
Now, this does not have to be fancy by any means, in fact, the less fancy this is, the better! One of our fun date ideas is to do an at home alcohol tasting. If you have countless bottles of alcohol lying around that you probably aren’t going to finish anytime soon, which lets be honest, most of us do, then get some shot glasses and a blindfold or bottle covers, blindfold your date or cover your bottles and get them to try to guess what they are drinking.
