20 Films To Watch When You Want To Forget About Valentine’s Day

Want to watch a film which will make you feel better on Valentines day? These are great films to watch that will make you feel better!

Valentine’s Day can be a right pain to bear if you’re single. There are many films and TV shows out there that shows people in happy relationships which can be quite depressing at times. Here are twenty great films to watch when you just want to forget about Valentines Day.

1. Matilda

This is such a brilliant classic, following the life of gifted Matilda. Magic powers, friendship and taking down horrible teachers. What’s not to love. No romance involved at all!

2. The Girl on the Train

Based on the book by Paula Hawkins, this thriller shows the downfalls of being in a relationship thanks to a couple of disturbed men. Its one the best films to watch if you feel rubbish about feeling single, it shows you exactly why sometimes its okay not to be in a relationship.

3. Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit

This is such a brilliant film and is guaranteed to make you smile. After a were-rabbit becomes unleashed, its up to the famous duo to save the day. Its a great film to watch if want some cheering up.

4. Fargo

Based on a true crime, this mystery investigation is a great one to watch just to forget all about Valentine’s Day. You can also watch the TV series on Netflix too which is filled with an all star cast.

5. Dumb and Dumber

This is another great film to make you laugh! Duo Harry and Lloyd go on an adventure to return a lost suitcase. This duo will have you in stitches throughout the film.

6. Alice in Wonderland

Disney has done two amazing versions of this classic but I always prefer the Tim Burton version. Alice shows you that you can be a strong individual and be single at the same time. You don’t have to be in a relationship to go on adventures.

7. Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass

This film is just as good as its first. Filled with an all star cast, this film reunites you with all your favourite characters from the prequel and takes you back to wonderland one last time in order to help out the Mad Hatter.

8. The Goonies

Filled with adventure and lots of laughs, a gang of kids discover a treasure map which they decide to explore. This is a great classic to watch if you just want a to see film that will make you feel better.

9. Derren Brown Miracle: Faith or Fiction

Illusionist Derren Brown has done many TV shows and performances and this is just one of his many shows. This will have you on the edge of the seat and make you feel amazed by his stunning yet terrifying tricks.

10. Despicable Me

This brilliant film will make you laugh and want to watch it over and over again. Filled with mischievous acts, Gru learns the importance of being good when three children turn his life upside down.

11. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Another great Tim Burton production on a classic story. When Charlie Bucket wins a tour to the famous Wonka factory, Charlie and his grandfather embark on the tour of a lifetime. Full of adventure, this film is a great one to make you forget all about Valentine’s Day and want to eat nothing but chocolate.

For me, the best films to watch during Valentine’s day is horror films. No loved up couples, just great films that put you on the edge of your seat. In Insidious, when their child becomes haunted by an evil spirit, their parents do anything and everything they can to save him.

13. Insidious 2

The prequel leaves you on such a cliffhanger, you can’t help but watch more. After the showdown in the prequel, the Lamberts lives are still in serious danger. By pursuing the past, they try to put an end to the chaos that is destroying their lives.

14. Oculus

Another great horror film to enjoy starring Karen Gillian. After Tim is released from a psychiatric hospital, he reunites with his sister Kaylie figure out their parents murder. As the story begins to unfold, they become puppets in a malevolent and sinister force.

15. Ex Machina

This is a great film to watch if you love science fiction. After winning a competition at his job, Caleb is invited to participate in a remote experiment involving a robot called Ava, who isn’t who she seems to be.

16. Silence of the Lambs

A great horror classic. In order to get into the head of the famous “Hannibal the Cannibal”, top student Clarice Starling tries talking this killer in order to release information about a former criminal on the loose.

17. Ghostbusters

There are two great alternatives of this film but either one is a great film to watch. After being kicked out of their former jobs, the four heroes decide to become “Ghostbusters”, saving New York City from one ghost at a time.

18. Would You Rather

This is a great film full of suspense and horror. Eight individuals are invited to a dinner party, all of which are asked to do things out of their comfort zone for money. As the night progresses the acts become more sinister.

19. The Woman in Black

Another great remake of a classic book. When trying to sort out the affairs of a recently deceased individual, Arthur Kipps learns that not everything is as it seems. Daniel Radcliffe plays this role brilliantly and is a great one to help you take your mind off Valentine’s day.

20. Girl, Interrupted

Using an all star cast, this film really shows the lives of those in mental asylums during the 1960’s. After being sent to a mental institution for women, Susanna begins to learn to accept herself and the friends that surround her.
