10 Festive Christmas Baking Recipes To Try

‘Tis the season to eat your weight in chocolate, so what better way to get your sugar-fix than in these delicious festive bakes. From cookies to cupcakes; I’ve put myself through the arduous *ahem* job of testing as many sweet treats as I could lay my hands on (for the record, that turns out to be a lot). So turn on the Christmas tunes, grab yourself a wooden spoon and try not to eat all the mix before it makes it to the oven. Here are the best festive Christmas baking recipes.

1. Gingerbread house

I’m not going to pretend that these are easy to make. I’ve ended up with many gingerbread construction sites and abandoned ruins in my time, but finally managed a fully-formed cottage with this recipe. Good luck, my friend.

2. Red wine chocolate cake

Just when I thought chocolate cake couldn’t get any better. Throw in some red wine and you’ve got yourself some out-of-this-world boozy goodness.

3. Lazy mince pies

It’s not Christmas without mince pies: fact. Skip the homemade mincemeat and pastry and tah-dah:  an impressive bake with minimal effort.

4. Reindeer cupcakes

Pimp up your usual cupcakes with these ad-awww-able reindeer toppers. They’re (almost) too cute to eat.

5. Melting snowman cupcakes

If your decoration skills are poor enough to make Mary Berry blanch, these melting snowman cakes are for you. Fool-proof and super cute, they’re a great pick for novice bakers.

6. Christmas advent biscuits

As soon as the 1st December hits, the I’m-going-to-stuff-my-face-with-as-much-as-possible season begins. These advent biscuits are no exception; despite the decoration, you’ll have to eat them relatively quickly to stop them going stale (oh, the hardships…).

Okay, so I’m sort of cheating with this one. No baking is required to make this peppermint bark, but it’s so damn good I simply had to include it. You can thank me later.
