Feeling Lost After Graduating University Is Totally Normal
Remember feeling super excited going to university? You had the next few years of your life mapped out. You were going to study a subject you loved, meet new people, party, live in a new city and maybe discover the person you’re going to be. But fast forward 3 years and you’ve graduated but panic sets in, what do you do now? We’re here to tell you that feeling lost after graduating is totally normal. We get told that we have to know what we want to do with our lives and sometimes that pressure is too much.
It’s ok to be unsure of your future career
It’s awesome if you have a set career in mind, maybe you want to be a doctor, a musician, a designer, or even a Disney princess and if you know your next steps then that’s brilliant. Well done you!
Real world shock
When most of your life is set with the same routine, it can be a shock to the system to suddenly be out in the real world. But don’t stress. Thousands of people feel exactly the same and that’s okay. Just follow a few simple mindsets and you’ll be fine.
Everyone is different
Don’t compare yourself to others, even to your closest friends. We’re all different and go through things in our own way.
Use this time and feeling of being lost to rediscover yourself, find the person you want to be outside of the confines of university. You are no longer labelled a student, so label yourself as something else. But most importantly don’t worry. Everything you’re feeling is completely normal and you aren’t alone. Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be fine. Remember just be happy!
