8 Fashion Graduate Jobs To Do This Summer

Fashion is a tough industry to crack, regardless of which sector you wish to enter. Even the fact that there are sectors may come as a surprise to some – there is more to the industry than just design! A lot of places offer internships in IT, marketing, branding, PR – anything to make a company run, basically. At the end of the day, fashion is a business, after all. And although scary, definitely an industry you can enter even without a background in actual fashion design or styling. With the internships themselves, in all honesty, the opportunities I did manage to scrounge for this list were not easy to find, and paid positions are few and far between. I did, however, manage to get a few – some of them are with companies that actually run regular graduate schemes, work placements, and internships! These are the fashion graduate jobs for you to try out this summer!

1. ASOS

ASOS offers a wide range of opportunities: they run year-long graduate placements in areas like pattern cutting, design, and sourcing, as well as more business-oriented areas like financing and marketing. They also do summer internships in fields like global training and digital analytics.

2. Condé Nast UK

Although not strictly speaking in fashion, they do own Vogue and various other fashion magazines, such as Glamour, Allure, Tatler, and W. Their highly competitive advertising sales graduate scheme runs yearly, and offers fantastic benefits and chances for advancement. It’s a tough, fast-paced environment, but definitely rewarding – as well as giving you skills that you can apply within the fashion world.

3. Arcadia

You may have heard of the Arcadia group: they own Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Evans, Wallis, and Outfit. They run four graduate programs: merchandising, digital, and buying, who recruit all year round, and finance, which recruits two/three times a year. They also run a two-year apprenticeship focusing on merchandising, and work experiences for Year 12 students during the summers.

4. Boohoo

Boohoo regularly attends graduate fairs at universities, as well as offering multiple graduate placements and internships in fields like IT, marketing, and finance. This is great for those wanting to explore the more commercial side of fashion!

5. Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters runs a yearly graduate program lasting for a year in multiple departments. An internship with Urban Outfitters would be ideal for those wishing to explore streetwear and high-street trends.

Oliver Bonas offers multiple paid internships, usually lasting six months, in areas like womenswear design. This is one of the coolest fashion graduate jobs!

7. Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham regularly looks for interns for paid positions – in the pasts these have been in fashion design and digital marketing. This is a fantastic place for anyone wanting to get into high-end design.

8. H&M

H&M offers internships for fashion students wishing to kickstart a career in the industry. They’ve two available – print design and fashion design. Located in their head offices in Stockholm, this is definitely one of the more thought-out graduate schemes available in fashion. They run work placements for current students, too.
