Got an event tonight but you’re short of time or money and need a face mask ASAP? Well, we’ve got you covered. There are so many really effective face masks that you can make at home in literally no time, from ingredients that most of us will have lying around in our cupboards anyway. Here are five of the best for you to try!
We all know how fantastic avocado is to eat, but did you know it also makes a fantastic face mask? Ideal for acne-prone and dry skin, mash one avocado with a tablespoon of honey, spread evenly across your face and leave for twenty minutes. Your skin will instantly feel softer and smoother. Doing this once a week can really help improve acne as the honey contains antibacterial properties, and the avocado will make your skin super soft.
If you’re in need of a good exfoliator, try combining the juice of a lemon with some sugar to make a quick and easy exfoliating face mask. Massage the mask into your face and neck in light circular motions for sixty seconds and then rinse with warm water. This is such a simple recipe that’s ideal if you suddenly have an event and don’t have time to go out and buy an exfoliator. If you’re not a fan of lemon or don’t have any available, you can always swap it out for some coconut oil.
Bananas are also fantastic for making your skin soft as heck and they’re super cheap and easy to make a face mask out of – what’s not to love! Simply mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste, then gently apply it to your face and neck. Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes and then rinse away with some cold water – easy peasy. If you’re suffering from acne, again, try adding some honey for that antibacterial touch.
Now, you might have read that and thought “what the heck? Oatmeal?!”, well you’d be surprised how great oatmeal can be for your skin! An oatmeal face mask will give you a quick pick-me-up that will leave you both feeling and looking better, and it’ll cost next to nothing too. Combine ½ of a cup of warm water and ⅓ of a cup oatmeal, then mix with 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white. Then, apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing with some warm water! It might sound and even look a little gross, but the benefits for your skin are endless!
Looking to give your skin a real cleanse and tighten up your pores? Try a yoghurt face mask! Possibly the easiest to make – as you don’t have to do anything at all – simply slather some natural plain yoghurt onto your face and then kick back and relax for twenty minutes while it works its magic. Then rinse away! If you have the time and want to take it up a notch, you can add some lemon juice and a drop or two of honey – this will be great for acne!
