Exhibitions You Should Totally Check Out In London

Exhibitions are a great way to spend your day and learn something new. From fashion to art to the sustainability of our food, here are the top eight exhibitions you should check out in London right now.

1. Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams

This is arguably the most popular exhibition to check out in London right now. Situated at the V&A, it explores the history and impact of Christian Dior and presents him as one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. Filled with sketches, photos and the dresses themselves, this is one of the exhibitions you absolutely must see if you’re into fashion. Tickets are released monthly and you can get them from the V&A website.

2. FOOD: Bigger than the Plate

Another of the V&A’s exhibitions is their Food: Bigger than the Plate exhibition. This exhibition is on until the 20th of October 2019 and explores how we can make more sustainable choices with our food. It aims to bring together the politics and pleasure of food and how we can keep the future of food just and delicious. Book this unmissable exhibition on the V&A website.

3. Michael Rakowitz

This is one of many compelling exhibitions that is vital to see. Michael Rakowitz takes inspiration from historic buildings and artefacts to create fascinating environments. This exhibition is presented by Whitechapel Gallery and is on until the 25 August 2019. You can book tickets on the Whitechapel Gallery website.

4. Van Gogh and Britain

This is a must-see exhibition presenting the largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings in the UK for nearly a decade. This exhibition focuses on the influence of Britain on Van Gogh’s work, and how he then, in turn, influenced British artists. This exhibition is only on until the 11 August 2019, and you can book it on the Tate’s website.

5. Keith Haring

This is one of the unmissable exhibitions you have to visit this summer. Keith Haring was a part of the New York art scene of the 1980s and this exhibition at the Tate presents more than 85 of his artworks. Haring uses his work to respond to issues such as political dictatorship, racism, homophobia, drug addiction, AIDS awareness, capitalism and the environment. This exhibition is on until the 10 November 2019 and you can book it on the Tate website.

6. RA Summer Exhibition 2019

This annual exhibition presented by the Royal Academy of Arts is an unmissable accumulation of over 1,500 works, and a lot of them are being presented for the first time. The exhibition makes use of the courtyard as well as the inside of the museum and also has a colourful installation of flags on Bond Street. This exhibition is on until the 12 August 2019, and you can find tickets on the Royal Academy website.

7. Kiss My Genders

Kiss My Genders is one of the most unmissable exhibitions in London this summer. It is a group exhibition presented by the Hayward Gallery which shines a light on 30 different international artists, all of whose work explores and engages with gender identity. It utilises many different mediums such as photography, painting, sculpture, installation and video. This exhibition is on until 8 September 2019 so make sure you don’t miss out, book it on the Hayward Gallery website.

8. Faith Ringgold

This exhibition at the Serpentine Galleries is a celebration of the work of Faith Ringgold. Ringgold’s work focuses on the perceptions of African American identity and gender inequality, with a focus on the feminist and civil rights movements. This is another one of the exhibitions which use different mediums of work, including paintings, story quilts and political posters.
