We all know to apply face cream and sun protection when it’s sunny out, but we really do put more stress on our skin than we think. Most of us drink a lot of coffee to compensate for lack of sleep and forgo drinking the recommended amount of water to save ourselves from being bloated. But, we’ll slap on heavy makeup and still drink copious amounts of alcohol on the weekend, adding to the damaging effects not just within our bodies, but on the outside too. Here is a list of six essential skincare products and some really useful info that will help reverse that damage and leave your skin looking and feeling a lot healthier!
The Body shop is good for most of your skincare needs especially since they are cruelty-free and ethically sourced with most of their products consisting of 100% vegan ingredients. Their tea tree range has to be one of their most successful and here’s precisely why:
Not only does it deeply cleanse blemished skin, but the tea-tree essential oils also have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that calm redness, swelling and reduce acne scarring. Adding this to your skincare routine, if you have one, will most definitely benefit you in the long run and for only £6.50, it’s a surefire investment for healthier skin!

Toning the skin after washing is as essential as drinking water to stay hydrated. Another tea-tree product, this toner from Korea claims to clear and improve the texture and appearance of your skin in just 30 days! That’s why I’ve added it to the essential skincare product list.
This is a toner that is first and foremost, a gentle substance that should NOT sting when you apply it to your face. It contains 3 types of acids derived from plants that each do a few different things to really get into your skin and clear out what face wash cannot. AHA targets the top layer of skin, exfoliating the dead cells and impurities. BHA gets into the pores, clearing out the sebum and impurities and is suited to those with oilier or acne prone skin for this reason. Finally, PHA is a type of AHA that takes its time to sink into the skin, allowing for less irritation and more hydration. This hypoallergenic tested pore shrinker is a must have if you’re struggling to get rid of blackheads and prevent their return. Just check out all the reviews!
Sun protection is necessary afterward as this product can leave your skin a little photosensitive afterward.

This is a light serum from The Ordinary and one of the most gentle options in their Vitamin C range. You’ll benefit from the Ascorbyl Glucoside, a derivative of vitamin C, that brightens the skin and the crucial improvements in collagen production for firmer, plumper skin and smoothing out any fine lines or wrinkles. Bonus, The Ordinary pride themselves on being vegan and cruelty-free! Again, it’s recommended to use sun cream after applying this product during the day.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that paired with Vitamin C, can keep the harmful effects of UV exposure (UVB) to a minimum, and fight off free radicals found in the pollution that will damage and age the skin. This is an excellent complement to your sun cream, which is better applied as a separate product if you’re looking for more than just SPF 15.

This sunscreen is everywhere, from M&S to Superdrug. It lasts ages, contains anti-oxidants and is water-resistant if you find yourself anywhere near the beach. Yes! Water is the final essential skincare item on this list. It’s vital to keep yourself well hydrated throughout the day. No product is going to work well with dull, dehydrated skin. It’s not just about keeping your insides hydrated, water also helps clear and brighten the skin. So, every now and then drink water instead of coffee or alcohol and allow your body to really clear itself of all the harmful impurities. After all, it’s free!
