Easy Side Jobs You Can Handle During University

mm
So if you're a uni student and bored and want to get some extra Oyster card money, then here are easy side jobs you can handle during university!

Living in London while studying at university, you’ll see, is really expensive. In the beginning, I didn’t realise but money for my Oyster card was flying out of my purse so quickly I didn’t realise I was spending so much! You will also be surprised to find out that lecture hours are not like high school hours. You don’t spend half your day at uni like you did in high school but you rather have so much more free time! So if you’re a uni student and bored and want to get some extra Oyster card money, then here are easy side jobs you can handle during university!

Babysitter/ Nanny/ Helper

This is the perfect job for uni students! I did it for the whole three years that I was studying and it was so easy, plus you get experience with childcare in case you want to get into teaching or speech therapy. It is an easy job because a few days a week – depending on your schedule and on the family you work for – you will probably be picking up the children from school, helping with homework, getting them ready for bed, playing with them. I loved this job even more when my bond with the kids grew stronger.

Part-time sales assistant

Being a sales assistant is a great job for those social butterflies! You get to talk to a lot of people as you’re offering customer service. Also when part-time, usually you can pick the days you want to work and the hours are not long. Plus, you can meet some great friends while working, and actually have fun!

University ambassador

I believe all universities have ambassadors, but if you’re unlucky, don’t worry because you can do something else! At the university I went to, ambassadors were students that gave tours to groups of people who were prospected students who wanted to see the campuses. Also, ambassadors, if you applied, worked at uni events such as at a careers day event or on registration day. The payment is pretty good as well!#

Waitress/ waiter

When in university, you will get countless emails from catering companies who are looking to hire uni students to events and concerts for waitressing. I would strongly recommend a job like this as you can regulate when you want to work and you can actually choose which events you want to work at! For example, you might be working at the Brit awards! Who would say no to a free show?! There are tons of options for easy side jobs.

Tutor

If you have a bit of tutoring experience, then that’s great because you can apply to, for example, Tutorfair.com and work independently as a tutor. But if you are a newbie, you can start with a family. Usually in London, because the parents are working 9-5, there is always someone else at home to help the kids. Some families even ask for tutors to help their children. You can start there. Another option is to apply to an after-school centre where the kids go to do some extra maths and English exercises. These centres always need tutors to help children with any difficulties.
