Looking to get that perfect beach body ready for the summer but need a bit of help getting there? Fear not as I have put together a list of 10 easy changes you can make to get a head start on getting that beach body. Good luck!
Instead of driving short distances why not walk or cycle? Not only is it a simple step in achieving your desired beach body, but it is also environmentally and economically friendly! Saving the environment and skipping out on petrol spending while also getting in some daily exercise? You’d be mental to say no to that.
There are some amazing (and free) calorie counting apps out there, which can be set up in less than half a minute. Usually, they will ask your age, height and weight, etc, from there you just take a note of what you eat for the day. My personal favourite is Nutracheck as it already has everything logged in, meaning you don’t have to add calories up by yourself. Some apps will even link up to your Fitbit or other fitness apps to monitor your health more accurately.
One simple change you can make to get that beach body if you’re a total tea genie is simply by switching milk in your hot drinks. Whether it be from full fat to semi-skimmed, or better yet from dairy to plant-based milk (I recommend almond), or even to no milk, these will all add up! You could even switch to herbal teas, coming in at roughly 2 calories a cup!
Unfortunately, it goes without saying that to achieve that summer beach body, you’re going to have to put in the work. It is advised to a minimum of one and a half hours of exercise per week, but why not make the most of it? Sign up with a friend to a fun gym class like dancercise or yoga and be a pair of beach babes together!
Another habit that can be hard to kick is snacking before going to bed. Try to avoid eating 3-4 hours before hitting the hay, especially carbs, as it can cause weight gain and sleeping issues such as insomnia, indigestion, and heartburn.
Skipping meals is not only dangerous but it also does not help you gain that beach body any faster. Instead of skipping a meal, try to cut down on snacking, especially on sugary sweets and drinks. Try to opt for healthier choices such as fruit and nuts.
Make sure that you drink plenty of water every single day as the stomach can often mistake being thirsty for being hungry, especially if you’re guilty of not drinking all eight glasses of water a day. To speed up metabolism, drink a glass of water within half an hour of waking up in the morning.
Before going to the supermarket write a shopping list and stick to it! This will ensure that your meals will be organised, healthy and it may even save you a little cash. Try to avoid going on an empty stomach as this will tempt you to throw unnecessary extras into your shopping cart.
This will only work if you follow the above step! Prepping your meals weekly will not only save you time throughout your busy week, but it will also force you to eat healthier meals!
It is recommended to drink alcohol once a week and to stick to the weekly alcohol unit guidelines. However, if you are a party princess, try to stay in at least one weekend a month. Not only will your body thank you, so will your purse. Try switching from fatty/sugary drinks such as beer, wine, and cocktails to lighter options such as gin, soda, and fresh lime.
