10 Delicious Mocktail Recipes To Try Out This Summer
Summer is finally here and what better way to start it off with cool, delicious mocktails. Get ready to try out my 10 delicious mocktail recipes this summer.
1. Lemon Ice Tea
Living in a country that loves their cuppa tea, the lemon ice tea had to be first on my mocktails list. It is so very easy to prepare and absolutely cooling and refreshing. You can try making it with whatever tea bags you prefer likeĀ Earl Grey, Darjeeling, etc. All you need is 4 tea bags, lemon slices of 2 lemons in a large heatproof pitcher. To this then add 1 liter boiling water and set aside for 5 minutes. Then discard the tea bags and lemon slices and allow to cool to room temperature. Then keep it in the fridge to chill. Serve chilled with sprigs of mint and few lemon slices.
2. Watermelon Lemonade
This is one of my favorite mocktails, it is super duper easy and simply perfect for a hot summer day. All you need is half a liter lemonade and half a liter watermelon juice, mix together in a large jug. Yes, it is that simple. You can make your own lemonade or use store-bought whatever is convenient.
3. Mojito
You don’t need alcohol to make a mojito, try out the mojito mocktail and I am sure you will not miss the alcohol. You only need a handful of ingredients to make this delicious mocktail. Add crushed ice and a juice of 1-2 limes in a tall glass, to this then add a mix of sugar and mint and give it a stir and finally top it up with soda. Serve chilled.
4. Blood Orange Mojito
Want a colorful mojito with a twist then you should definitely try the blood orange mojito it is not only appealing but also refreshing and tantalizing. In a mortar and pestle, muddle wedges of 1 lime, a handful of mint and 2 tsp sugar. In a glass, add crushed ice, half of the muddled mixture, juice of 1-2 oranges and top it up with sparkling water.
5. Strawberry and Lime Slushies
Want something cool and refreshing on a hot summer afternoon, well a strawberry, lime slush is coming your way. All you need to do is add 2 cups of halved strawberries, a quarter cup of lime juice, 2 cups of ice cubes, 4 tbsp sugar and 3/4 cup of water to a blender. Once blended just pour into a glass and serve with slices of fresh strawberries and lime.
6. Watermelon Margarita Mocktails
This a perfect mocktail if you have a surprise guest coming over. They are so easy to whip up and an absolute crowd-pleaser. You basically need only 2 ingredients that are frozen watermelon cubes and a can of sprite. Just blend the two together and serve chilled.
7. Ginger Beer Mocktail
Confused by the name? Well, it is cheat’s version of the classic ginger beer. Put the ginger and lemon in a bowl, pour over 300ml water and blitz with a hand blender until very smooth. Strain through a sieve into a bowl. Add the sugar and blitz again. Add lemonade to dilute the lemon and ginger mix before serving.
8. Sangria Mocktail
Well, these mocktails are an absolute winner among kids, not only is it healthy but also a good way to get them to eat all their fruits. All you need to do is blend the white grape juice with 1/4 cup blueberries. Pour this mixture in a jar. To this then add the orange and the lime juice. Stir until is well mixed. Add ice in a glass, then add the liquid mixture, the chopped fruits (2 oranges, 2 bananas, 2 limes, and 2 peaches) and 3/4 cup of blueberries. Let stand the sangria in the fridge for about 2 hours.
9. Cucumber, lime and elderflower coolers
This fragrant, refreshing mocktail is perfect for summers, it cooling and simply delicious. Roughly chop the cucumber and put in a food processor with 12 mint leaves and blitz to a pulp. Pass the pulp into a fine sieve and, using a wooden spoon, press as much juice as possible into the bowl. Discard the pulp. Then mix the minty cucumber juice, elderflower cordial and lime juice in a jug, and then top up with soda water. Serve with ice and sprigs of mint and cucumber ribbons.
10. Shirley Temple Mocktail
This a 2 ingredient mocktail, simple and quick and very refreshing. Mix together 10 ounces of maraschino cherry juice and 2 liters of lemon soda in a large pitcher. Serve chilled with ice cubes and halved cherries.
