8 Cute Ways To Style Black Jeans This Autumn
Autumn is here, which means it’s time to pack away the playsuits & sandals and bring back the old faithful’s – black jeans. Our favourite, trustworthy, never-lets-you-down wardrobe staple. But sometimes it’s easy to fall into a routine and your outfits can become a bit… bland. I’ve fallen prey to this a number of time, especially when university has started back up. More often than not I’ll roll into my 9am in a baggy t-shirt (or pyjama top!) and jeans, then be regretting it by 12pm when I look like a toe next to everyone else. So here’s 10 easy different ways to style your black jeans this Autumn, to avoid looking like me.
1. Oversized jumpers
Starting off with a classic here, and it’s the best way to start. Black jeans and an oversized jumper go together like tea & biscuits. Think chunky cable- knits, grandad prints and forest tones and you can’t go wrong. You could even layer a collared shirt underneath to be that little bit extra.
2. A white shirt
Speaking of shirts, a white shirt and a pair of black jeans are a match made in Heaven. Dress it down with a pair of trainers and a messy bun, or smarten it up with some classy flats and a smart coat. This is also a good way to inject some colour into your outfit, get a cute emroidered shirt and match your make up accordingly. Think floral embroidery and a bold berry lip and you’re onto a winner.
3. Denim jackets
Black jeans are also a good way to dip your toe into the denim and denim trend, if you’re too hesitant to jump right in. layer up a blue denim jacket or be instantly cosy in a coloured sherpa lined jacket. Jeans are a really versatile piece, so don’t worry about what colour denim to match it with.
4. Chunky scarves
Layering is key in Autumn, not only is it a cute cosy look, it’s also completely workable in the transitional period. The easiest way to layer is by using a chunky scarf, and pairing with black jeans leaves you open to play around with colours and patterns!
5. Flannel shirts
Flannel shirts also pair well with the neutral base of black jeans. They’re super cute and bang on trend, best worn layered up under jackets or as an accessory around your waist. We’d style with a red flannel shirt, white cropped top and a bold red lip for some serious autumn vibes.
6. Oversized hoodies
For days where putting effort in just isn’t an option, my go to is just a baggy af hoodie. A big hoodie paired with some clean white trainers leads to a tidy put together image with no effort involved.
7. Heeled boots
Black jeans aren’t just for dressing down. Executed correctly, black jeans could become a staple in your ‘put-together’ part of the wardrobe. The simplest way to dress up a pair of black jeans is with a good pair heeled boots. Go for a patent pair of pointed sock boots for a classy yet badass vibe.
8. Black bardot top
Stealing inspiration from one of the most iconic outfit scenes in movie history, why not pair your black jeans with a black Bardot top a-la Sandy Olsen from Grease. An all black out never fails to look put together and effortless an the same. Plus it can look pretty badass.
Hopefully you’ve got some good inspiration from these looks, but don’t just stop here. Experiment to your hearts content using the jeans as a good neutral starting point. Think animal print patterns and textured fabric if you want to match your favourite fashion instas, or think layering and oversized styles if comfort is the only way to survive the cold Autumn mornings.
