The world is changing and so you should be changing your beauty products. There are so many out there that are cruelty-free and/or vegan. By switching to products from the following brands you could be doing the animals and your environment a huge favour – and every little bit helps ( in the words of Tesco).
LUSH are all round, lush. Their products are all cruelty-free and they also campaign against animal testing. Whilst, not all their products are vegan 100% of them are vegetarian and they do have a vegan range which is expanding regularly. Further to the good quality and good for the environment products, they also aim to reduce the amount of packaging they use in-store and the vast majority of their products can be taken home in nothing at all – and they encourage the packaging they do use to be brought back to the store after use and exchanged for a free face mask.
According to their website, Love, Beauty and Planet are certified vegan and cruelty-free! They have a wide range of products from Shampoos to Body Scrubs. And the great thing about this company is that their products are good for the environment and for you. Their packaging is 100% recyclable and they are working towards reducing their carbon footprint by 20% by 2020.
Elf has confirmed they do not test on animals and do not endorse those practices. They also do not use Beeswax which would suggest that they are also vegan. The great thing about this brand is that their products are also great quality and pretty cheap when compared with competitors who aren’t cruelty-free. Their liquid eyeliner is a staple in my make up bag and it will be for the foreseeable future.
Spectrum believe that being cruelty-free and vegan are almost synonymous. If the product is not tested on animals it should also not have any ingredients derived from animals such as beeswax or goats milk. They aim to educate their customers on the ingredients in other products that have hidden animal by-products so that they can be avoided.
Another brand that is certified by PETA, meaning that their make up brushes are cruelty-free and vegan. They also use recycled bamboo in their products so no trees are harmed in the process. Fortunately for them, bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants so their business model is one that is likely to last for a long while.
Revolution is certified by PETA as cruelty-free and whilst some of their product range isn’t vegan. However, they do have vegan options to choose from so just check the label of their products to make sure they are vegan.
The Body Shop pride themselves on being cruelty-free and uber ethical so a number of their products are vegan too. They have a huge product range to choose from including makeup, body butter and lip balms.
Many own brand beauty brands have both vegan and cruelty-free options – Superdrug is no exception. They claim to have ’embraced’ veganism and have created a line of vegan cosmetics that are available in the majority of their stores. However, they have stressed that some of their products can be cruelty- free without being vegan so if customers desire both they must check the label for animal by-products such as collagen and carmine. Urban Decay are fiercely against animal testing and so none of their products are tested on animals. They also have a range of vegan products which are certified to not contain animal products. The brand is great quality although pricey, it is worth it for the animals.
Last but not least, Too Faced are completely cruelty-free and they have an extensive list of products that are also vegan including their ‘Better Than Sex’ mascara.
