It’s a well-known fact that Manchester is one of the quirkiest, most vibrant locations in the UK. Renowned for its rich history and culture, the city is also home to some wonderful vintage stores. If you’re a lover of all things retro, then check out this list of the coolest vintage shops in Manchester!
Part of the Oxfam charity, Oxfam Originals is a fantastic little vintage haunt, packed ceiling-high with retro gems. You can find all sorts in here. All the lovely, unique stuff is donated by members of the public, so one minute you’ll come across a dress from the 70s while the next you’ll spot an 80s-style pair of shoes. Plus, you know your money is going towards a great cause when you purchase from this shop.
Located on Oldham Street, Blue Rinse is one of the slightly more expensive vintage shops in the city. But don’t let that put you off. With stores in both Leeds and Manchester, as well as an outlet on eBay, Blue Rinse is a hugely popular shop, and for good reason.
The vintage stuff you’ll find in this store is amazing, and the influence of Manchester’s music history is certainly echoed in lots of the pieces. It’s a great place to go if you’re after some cool new denim bits, and the layout of the shop makes it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for.
Also located on Oldham Street is We Are Cow. This shop boasts a whole load of 90s-inspired vintage clothing. From shorts to shirts, jackets to dresses, Cow has it all. It’s also a super spacious shop, so if you aren’t into the authentic, claustrophobic vintage shopping experience, then give Cow a go.
Through the shop window of Retro Rehab you’ll spot a treasure trove of spectacular reconstructed vintage clothing, jewellery, and other accessories. While it may be small, this little shop is packed full to the brim with some amazing vintage womenswear, ideal for retro enthusiasts. If you’re looking to vamp up your wardrobe with some fabulous, edgy threads, then add Retro Rehab to your list of vintage shops to check out!
As the name would suggest, Thrift Shop is the place to go to snap up some vintage goodies at low prices! Located on the corner of Piccadilly Gardens, this shop is a favourite among university students and the older generation alike. With lots of items priced under a 2 for £10 deal, Thrift Shop is definitely one to visit if you’re sticking to a budget. To quote Macklemore, get ready to ‘pop some tags’.
This shop has been around since 1983, so it definitely knows a thing or two about vintage! Pop Boutique stocks a whole host of vintage goods, menswear and womenswear alike. It also has a fantastic selection of homeware pieces, so you can decorate your room with some really cool stuff. In this store, you’ll find anything from a 50s tea dress to a vintage port decanter, so there’s always something totally unique and out there to take your fancy.
As well as all the original vintage bits and bobs, the shop also sells its own branded stuff, which is definitely worth checking out. If you find yourself trawling through Manchester on a Saturday afternoon, take a couple of minutes to have a nosy.
