Conversations With Boys – What My Male Friends Really Think About Girls

I count myself lucky to have had a wide variety of friends in my life, all providing me with so many different and invaluable things. No one person fills every role as that’s just simply unrealistic, and I wouldn’t change it even if I could. The people I’ve been able to connect and bond with are all extraordinary in their own ways, each of them brings something new and interesting to the table! Their experiences thus far have helped shape them into the people that they are, and from that, they’ve all come to realize very specific insights, thoughts, and feelings about others in the world around them.

Of the friends that I’ve had, a somewhat larger portion have always tended to be male – and though they annoy the heck out of me a lot of the time, I love them to bits. They’ve been my shoulders to cry on, my gym buddies, my rom-com and cuddle go to’s, my crutches walking home after a night of drinking one too many…basically, as awesome as all my female friends. Though, with some exceptions, of course, my male friends are able to provide me insight into the male brain, specifically – what they all really think about girls.

The following questions are those devised with the help of some of my female friends, questions that they would like to know the answers to.

The answers that follow have been put together randomly and come from the minds of 5 of my very different male friends.

*To clarify – when I talk about my male friends I’m referring to those who identify as male, and when I refer to girls or women I’m also referring to those who identify as such.

So let’s begin! Conversations with boys – what my male friends really think about girls:

1. Which do you prefer to be, a big spoon or a little spoon?

Ans: Both! I love cuddling someone to sleep but also like to be little spoon every now and again. It’s nice to know someone’s got your back, but I do have to be in the right mood for it.

Ans: Definitely big spoon – I can roll away if I get too hot! Feel a bit trapped as a little spoon.

2. How do you feel about a woman telling you exactly what she wants/needs in the bedroom?

Ans: I like a confident woman. I’m always happy to tailor what I’m doing or try something new, but I’d also hope they would respect my wishes if I said I was uncomfortable with something. It’s all about reciprocity and mutual respect for me.

Ans: Absolutely! I love that. If you know what she likes you can save time and enjoy all the good parts – cut out any awkwardness.

3. Tell me some qualities that you look for/admire in a girl.

Ans: Ambition. Honesty. Able to let loose and have fun.

Ans: They’ve got to have some ambition, got to be passionate about something. Knowing what they want and working for it. Not letting people walk all over them but still able to be kind.

4. Kids or no kids? Have you always know which you would choose?

Ans: Definitely kids. I’ve always known! I think I’m good with kids they’re cute. I’d be up for adopting too –  just would generally like the chance to raise cool people who could go out and make a difference in the world.

Ans: I do, but only once I can properly provide for them. I want anything I bring in the world to have as good a life as I can possibly give them.

5. What is the most embarrassing thing to happen to you in the bedroom?

Ans: I once pulled out during sex just as I was climaxing, and came so hard it hit her in the eye… She kept saying ‘it burns’ and I died.

Ans: I once fell off of the bed during sex!

Ans: I once watched 50 Shades of Grey with a girl and she got really into the idea of BDSM, but I’d hated the movie so much I couldn’t get it up and she was not happy…

6. What is the best thing a girl has ever said to you?

Ans: Either that I’d given them confidence, that I deserved to be loved or that they didn’t know that someone could make them feel this way.

Ans: That they see me as the person that I feel I am, not as the person other people might expect to see or the person that society expects me to be.

7. Is there such a thing as having a ‘type’?

Ans: Yes, but I don’t think that means I’ll only be attracted to someone who fits into what I consider as my ‘type’. I’ve gone for plenty of girls who weren’t my ‘type’ and they were great.

Ans: After talking to you about it… I’m not sure anymore! I think I do have a ‘type’ and that my ‘type’ is what I would actively look for, but it doesn’t mean I’m not into other girls that I meet.

8. Do you really notice superficial things like spots and cellulite?

Ans: Not really – everyone is beautiful in their own way.

Ans: Not at all. No one is perfect and you shouldn’t expect anyone to be. A spot doesn’t define who they are.

9. What are some of your biggest turn-offs?

Ans: Rudeness or arrogance. Treating other people like shit is the worst. Bad hygiene.

Ans: I don’t really have any… Maybe if she whipped out a massive dildo and went ‘it’s your turn’… I’d be a bit wary.

10. What’s the first thing you might notice or look for?

Ans: Someone’s smile, or their laugh. How they’re face and body move when they’re happy. How they look into my eyes.

Ans: First, honestly, I’ll notice their face and body. If I’m attracted to them then I’ll notice how they speak and laugh or how they react to certain conversations.
