We all love to look our best, and makeup is one of those ways that this can be achieved. However, there are so many common makeup mistakes that everyone makes which prevents us from looking 100%. Fortunately, these common makeup mistakes are easily fixed so you can look flawless and fabulous.
Everyone loves a contour, and a good one can give you the cheekbones and jawline that mother nature couldn’t. However, if your contour isn’t blended enough, this can make your face look overly harsh or even leave you with a streaky brown line instead of the blended bronzy glow that you were aiming for. This is easily rectified, however; simply take a fluffy blending brush like a Kabuki brush, and simply blend away. Make sure you do your makeup in a place with good lighting, as if you apply your makeup in a place with a lot of shadows, you may miss everything that you want to be blended in.
Winged eyeliner is a gorgeous addition to any makeup look, and done correctly it can make your eyes look both bigger and brighter. However, one of the common makeup mistakes you can make is to wing your eyeliner just out instead of up and out, it can make your eyes look droopy and more sleepy than you would like. This is quickly fixed – when you do your eyeliner, angle your brush/applicator diagonally up away from the outer corner of you eye, and draw the line downwards, then draw another line in a triangle across your eyelid to meet the orignal line of your eyeliner. After this, apply your mascara as usual.
Concealer is a great way to brighten up your under eyes and brighten your whole face up. However, if not applied correctly it can actually age your face and cause you to look more dull. So, instead of applying your concealer in a semi-circle under the eye, apply it in a triangle shape coming down from each corner of the eye and meeting in the mid-cheek area. Then blend away with a brush or a beauty blender and apply the rest of your makeup as normal.
Even if you don’t want to use an expensive primer, you should at least moisturise your skin before you put your foundation on. Foundation actually encourages flakiness of the skin, so if you apply it directly to the skin without any sort of preparation, then this only increases this property and can make your foundation go cakey. Also, you can pick a primer for what you want your foundation to do for you, whether this be mattifying, brightening or adding an extra bit of shimmer. So, either invest in a primer or in a rich moisturiser with a good SPF to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.
Lash curlers are actually designed to work best when your lashes are completely clean, so using them after you have applied mascara will at best remove your mascara and at worst remove your lashes. Curl your lashes after you’ve done your eye makeup but before you apply mascara. If you’re wearing false lashes, curl your real lashes and the false lashes together to make them blend seamlessly, then apply your mascara.
