Comic artists on Instagram may be just what you need on your social media feed. From terribly bad dad jokes to painfully relatable millennial problems, comic artists are the perfect comedic commentary on everyday life. They’re awfully entertaining and you’re seriously missing out if you don’t follow the ten comic artists listed below – spruce up your feed with these doodles every time you scroll.
Cassandra Calin definitely stands out in this list of comic artists thanks to her more “artsy” and simple sketchy style. I really like the vibe her comics give and how it looks at female and everyday problems through a comedic lens. It’s honestly just #relatableAF, so relatable it hurts.
Mushroom Movie is all about the bad dad jokes. The comic basically features mushrooms in humorous situations based on bad puns and references. The art is simple, cartoony and after a while, you grow to love these little fun-guys. Get it? Cos fungi… I’ll show myself out.
Carrying on from the food and non-human theme, Ketnipz is a comic artist that makes adorable doodles about a pink bean. Why a bean? Who knows? But you’ve probably seen this little fella popping up before as an Instagram sticker. Ketnipz’s comics focus on girl problems and just general life.
You may have seen Loryn Brantz’s work before as she’s often featured at Buzzfeed and does commissions for the publication. Her comics are one of my favourites as they really dig deep into female dilemmas and what it’s like to be a millennial in this day and age.
Safely Endangered’s comics are some of the cutest things I’ve seen on my page. A lot of their work is based around bad puns (not surprising at this point), but he uses these jokes in such a wholesome way. The adorable art coupled with the sweet messages is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face, or at least make you a little warm inside.
Sarah Andersen was the first comic artists I followed on Instagram and her work still makes me laugh or think “wow that’s too relatable, is that bad?” Her comics look at a range of topics surrounding your daily life. From relationships and work to small inconveniences and life as an adult. It’s guaranteed that you’ll find something from her that you can relate to.
War and Peas feature some of my favourite “comic characters” on Instagram. There’s the “Grim Reaper” and the “Slutty Witch” series but for me, the Slutty Witch takes the cake. I just love how unapologetically honest and outspoken she is. There are some wholesome moments with her, but she’s generally just a badass bitch witch. Plus, it’s great having “spooky” comics outside of Halloween.
Hannah Hilliam’s comics are generally quite dark and abstract using a darker sense of humour than most artists. If you’re into sketchy black-and-white doodles and dark humour, then you should definitely check her work out.
If you’re a romantic or currently in a relationship, then Catana is a must-follow comic artist on Instagram. Her comics are incredibly simple but they’re an illustration of sweet and meaningful moments between her and her partner. They’re honestly so sweet and are guaranteed to make you warm or think of a certain someone.
Chris is easily one of the weirdest comic artists I’ve come across on Instagram. He probably is the weirdest, to be honest. His intentionally badly drawn caricatures and unique humour makes for a surprise every time one pops up on my feed. You can’t predict what he’ll draw next and each one never fails to make laugh due to its absurdity. It’s one of those things where it’s so bad, that it’s actually good and borderline genius.
