In 2018, there are many detoxing methods out there if you’re looking to revitalise your health! An interesting one I came across not so long ago was the cinnamon detox. I had heard about the water cucumber and water lemon one, but after hearing about all the added benefits of cinnamon, I decided to go ahead and try the cinnamon detox. I tried it for two weeks and it had some very interesting results!
If you don’t know already, cinnamon is an aromatic spice that is extracted from the bark of a south-east Asian tree. That is what gives it its rough texture and smoky flavour. When cinnamon sticks are broken down, they are put into a wide variety of food to give it their flavour and can be used for all kinds of health supplements like this cinnamon detox. It’s not just tasty desserts that they can be used for, but also a supplement to boost your health. I felt much healthier after trying the detox once a day for two weeks by adding a teaspoon of powder to a bottle of water.
You may not have realised this, but cinnamon is listed to be a powerful remedy against free radicals and is high in a substance with powerful medicinal properties! There have been published studies that show that cinnamon contains antioxidants that help cut the risk of heart disease and ultimately boost and improve your immune system. It has also been proven to help cut the risk of diabetes as cinnamon helps to improve the sensitivity to the hormone insulin which helps your metabolism and lower blood sugar levels! This results in the body being able to detox easier from any free radicals that may cause minor to serious health problems.
It has been proven that cinnamon is one of the most known herbal extracts in defeating the frequent problem acne. Cinnamon fights against the bacteria that builds in your pores and banishes blackheads from forming, ultimately clearing your face from acne. I found this to be true after I tried it for a couple of weeks. After drinking cinnamon water one a day for two weeks, my face appeared to be less red and was much clearer. My blackheads had disappeared and so did many of my spots. Cinnamon is also an anti-inflammatory, meaning that if you keep applying it into your diet daily, it keeps the bacteria that causes spots away, so you are free of acne.
If you’re looking to detox with cinnamon, it is vital that you only use a teaspoon a day and every day then on for the most effective results. This detox journey brought many positive effects and a one that surprised me was hair with increased shine and it being fuller. Studies on cinnamon have shown that the spice stimulates hair growth and makes it more shiny and further studies show that if you incorporate the powder with your conditioner, your hair colour becomes lighter!
If you suffer from arthritis or suffer from pain from something else often and want a more natural remedy away from painkillers and tablets, then this detox may just be right for you and help you to soothe and ease any chronic or non-chronic pain you have. Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory and has been proven to cure chronic arthritis if used regularly. It also helps to ease joint pain. I found this to be true after working out at the gym after a painful session, and while on my cinnamon detox, my muscles didn’t ache as much after a challenging work out as they would if I hadn’t been taking cinnamon. Cinnamon is a great pain reliever aside from taking painkillers.
