Christmas is getting closer and closer! It is an exciting time of the year and to celebrate it properly it is a must to gather all your favourite people to throw an unforgettable party. To make sure it’s truly amazing and conveys the holiday spirit you need to start thinking about the Christmas party decor way earlier! That is the one and only way to know you thought of everything. This is why I created a list of my favourite Christmas party decor ideas to help you out!

1. Cutlery in stockings

Making sure the Christmas table looks perfect should be your absolute priority for this type of gathering. Possibly one of the cutest ideas is to put cutlery in small red stockings. You can also throw inside a little surprise for your guests, for example, some sweets or notes and personalised wishes. This is definitely one of my favourite Christmas party decors I will most certainly use this year!

2. Santa Claus cups

Instead of using boring glasses or mugs, serve your cold beverages in Santa Claus cups. You can easily DIY them, which will save you a lot of money! Any drink you put in them will look lovely and Instagram worthy and I’m sure your guests will love it too. Especially the younger ones! This is one of the best Christmas party decor ideas!

3. Stockings on a fireplace

Stockings are a must when it comes to Christmas party decor, especially if you have a fireplace. Try to be more creative with them and decorate each one so it suits the person it is meant to be for. You can use them only as decoration or you can fill them with little gifts for your guests!

4. Front door decor

Your guests need to get into the Christmas spirit before even entering your house! This is why it is so important to decorate your front porch. A reef on the door is definitely a must, but you can also put some fairy lights and hang baubles as well! This is one of our favorite Christmas party decor ideas.

5. Jars with baubles and fairy lights

This Christmas party decor idea is an amazing way to set a mood in the whole room. All you need is a big jar or vase and fill it with baubles and lights. I can guarantee it will look amazing when you turn off most of the lights in the house! An easy and affordable way to spice up your flat for Christmas!

6. Snowy mason jars

Another amazing idea to decorate your flat for the Christmas party is a DIY snowy mason jar. It will look divine on the table and I’m sure all your guests will be mesmerised. It’s quick and easy to make and if you decide to do it, it will last you for years to come. If you are curious about how they are made check out a tutorial on A Pumpkin and a Princess‘s blog!

7. Hot chocolate station

When you think of the holidays one of the first things that pops into your head is hot chocolate with marshmallows and freshly whipped cream. This is why when you’re organizing a Christmas party not only do you have to serve it to your guests, I think you should give it it’s own little space. Make sure to include all the spices and garnishes and put them in cute little containers or jars!

8. Christmas reef table decor

Probably one of the most common and classic Christmas party decor ideas, but no holidays will be complete without it! Putting a reef in the middle of the table will create an unforgettable spirit. Decorate it how you like it. It is also easy to incorporate some some space for food if you want you table to be more like a smorgasbord.

The next idea is easy to make yourself and perfect if there will be kids around. Here is a tutorial from Artsy Momma on how to do those cute little reindeer cup holders! Fill them with some Christmas candy or popcorn and place them in the snacks corner for your guests to grab!

10. Staircase decor

A staircase, just like a fireplace, is an absolute must to decorate for your Christmas party. You can get creative with it or stick to something more traditional. You could go for twinkle lights, glass balls or garlands. This is one of the best Christmas party decor ideas!

11. Swimming candles

This Christmas party decor is definitely one of my favourites. You can easily make it without having to buy anything else! All you need are clear vases or jars. Fill them with water and put decorations of your choice inside. Keep in mind that you want them to fall to the bottom to avoid them burning. A great idea is to put in some fresh mistletoe. Then place a small candle on top, light it and let it swim around!

12. Mistletoe background for pictures

Our generation is so obsessed with social media, most of your guests will want to post something online after the party! You can totally use that to your advantage and make a background for pictures. It can be simple with only some writing, or you can decorate it more to fit your style. Don’t forget to hang a mistletoe for the cute kissing selfies!

13. Christmas balloons

No party is ever complete without balloons! This is why they can’t be missing from your Christmas party this year! You can buy simple ones in red, green and gold or go one step further and purchase star-shaped ones or letters to create ‘Merry Christmas’ writing on the wall! Whatever you will chose, it will certainly add up to the holiday spirit!

14. Snacks station

Good snacks are a must at every party and I think during Christmas they deserve their own little corner of the room. Fill the table up with homemade baked goods and other treats. To decorate it try putting a big gingerbread house in the centre. It will definitely get everyone’s attention!

15. Cookies and milk bottles

The last Christmas party decor idea are milk in bottles and cookies. There is nothing better for bringing back memories from childhood than a big glass of milk and ginger cookies baked by mum. To make it look a little bit fancier for the party’s sake pour the milk into small bottles and add straws that look like candy canes!
