The summer is well and truly here, and everyone has started going on their summer holidays. I don’t know about you, but I am well and truly jealous. No matter where you end up you’re bound to make some awesome memories! All the places on this list you can generally fly to for less than £100. So keep reading to learn all about the 10 cheapest places you can fly to from London!
Amsterdam is such a great destination. As not only does it have a great nighttime scene, but if museums and sightseeing are more your thing than this is one of the best destinations in the world. Highlights include the Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark, the Flower market, and the Anne Frank House. The canals are also incredibly beautiful, though be careful of being bitten by bugs at night. All in all, Amsterdam is a hub of culture and thinking whimsically with some great food to try as well. I personally recommend trying a stroopwafel (two very thin waffles with caramel-like syrup in the middle) and Patatje oorlog (french fries with peanut sauce, mayonnaise and raw chopped onions). It’s also one of the cheapest places on this list to fly to from London!
Most of the time Germany is overlooked as a holiday destination, but there is so much to see and do. Plus, have you tried German bread? It’s delicious. Berlin also has a very, vibrant, young art and music scene, as well as lots of vegan options for vegetarian and vegan travelers. There is also a rich, sad history to Berlin to explore, alongside grandeur like Charlottenburg Palace.
I don’t know about you, but Dublin has always been on my list of places I need to go. The perfect mixture of heritage and pubs- you can go visit Dublin Castle and St Patrick’s Cathedral, and know you’ll always be able to find somewhere to have a good pint afterwards. A must-see especially if you’re interested in learning more about Irish heritage and culture, and its super cheap to fly to from London.
The capital city of Denmark is not only inexpensive to fly to from London, but is well worth a visit even if it’s just to see the beautiful, quirky houses. It’s also repeatedly ranked one of the happiest cities in the world so there has to be something magical about it. Must sees include The Little Mermaid statue, the Tivoli Gardens, Christiansborg Palace and there is a whole plethora of museums to take your pick from.
Belgium chocolate. Need I say anymore? If that’s not enough to convince you, I should probably also mention that Brussels is drop dead gorgeous with vast green parks dotted around the city, meaning there’s always somewhere to have a picnic. The shopping is also a must for those who are fashion obsessed- expect everything and anything out of the box.
Italy’s capital of fashion, Milan, is well and truly a shopping paradise. While it will not cost you a lot to fly there from London, make sure you have plenty of spending money, as after you see the shops you’re going to need it!
Known for it’s year round warm weather, as well as not costing a lot to fly to, it’s not surprising that Lanzarote is such a popular holiday destination. Not only can you cozy up with a book on some truly great beaches, but Lanzarote is also full of some truly special attractions and activities relating to its volcanic landscape.
You’re never short of anything to do in Budapest. Not only is Hungarian food delicious, I recommend trying the pancakes (and basically all the desserts they have to offer) but there are some real cultural treasures there as well. The baths are of course a must see, and there is a truly active nightlife for the party animal traveler; and not only is it cheap to fly to from London, it’s also cheap to stay there too (especially if you’re comfortable staying in a hostel).
Morocco is a cultural delight and Fez is often referred to as the country’s cultural capital. Expect amazing food and architecture. However, I have to warn you that Fez’s medina is never quiet and you’ll probably either love it or hate it (probably depending how you feel about crowds). There is no where else quite like it, and I was surprised to see how inexpensive it was to fly to from London.
If you’ve never been to Paris, trust me you’ll always remember your first time there. There’s a reason it’s so well loved and visited. From the majesty of The Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame; to the glitz of the Moulin Rouge, there is bound to be something that will just stop and make you go wow. You’ll also end up inevitably surviving on pastries because you just won’t be able to put them down.
