10 Cheap Spring Holiday Ideas For Students

Spring holiday breaks are fast approaching!  Take some time off from your studies, grab a few friends and head off on a cheap holiday.  Check out these 10 cheap spring holiday ideas:

1. Ibiza, Spain

Flights from London: £17

If you’re looking to unwind from your lectures during revision week head off to Ibiza and spend your spring holiday in the clubbing capital of the world.  The amazing nightlife scene doesn’t come with a heavy price tag: you can grab a pint for just £3.  Lounge on the 160 km of coastline, jump on a party boat, then party all night!

2. Marseille, France

Flights from London: £5

Located in the South of France, Marseille is perfect for people who want a blend of mountains and beaches.  Head to Les Calanques to hike through the mountains, then finish off your day swimming in the beautiful blue seas surrounding you.  Go into the city for some delicious French food (all reasonably priced).  Wander the streets looking at the incredible street art, and take in the iconic blend of history and style Marseille has to offer.

3. Edinburgh, Scotland

Trains from London: £25

Known for its history, culture, and festivals, this iconic city has views everywhere you look.  Take a stroll down the Royal Mile up to the Edinburgh Castle, wander around the Grassmarket, hike up Arthur’s Seat… you’ll never want to leave!  Edinburgh is famously known for being the birthplace of Harry Potter; J.K. Rowling wrote the first three books in the Elephant House cafe, and you can find the sights that inspired Diagon Alley and other famous spots from the books!

4. Budapest, Hungary

Flights from London: £15

Known as the city of spas, you’ll be shocked at how many baths there are in this ancient Roman city.  Splurge on a visit to a spa, you’ll want the pampering to get yourself ready for the rest of term!  Packed with history, Budapest has beautiful architecture and buildings you’ll be dying to check out.  See the famous St. Stephen’s Basilica and Parliament, but if history isn’t for you their Pinball Museum is a blast.

5. Copenhagen, Denmark

Flights from London: £8

Once run by vikings, Copenhagen is home to reconstructed villages, a 1000 year-old castle, and picturesque canals.  Take a tour of the city through the canals on a cruise, and make sure you get a chance to see the Little Mermaid statue.  The people are beautiful, the streets are colorful, and the food is delicious.

6. Brighton, England

Trains from London: £5

For those who do not want to travel far and are looking to save up as much as possible, Brighton is a great place to go for a quick and cheap spring holiday.  Grab a train ticket for just 5 quid, and you’ll fall in love with this adorable beach town.  Wander around the signature Brighton Pier amusement arcade and take a long watch on the pebble beach.  The pastel houses and almost vintage vibe will give you plenty of opportunities for the perfect Instagram pic.

7. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Flights from London: £16

Famously known for its canals, legalised marijuana, and stroopwafels, this historic city is home to world famous museums and hundreds of thousands of bikes.  While it may be cheap to get to, you may be finding yourself paying for entry to some awesome places like the Heineken experience tour and the Rijksmuseum.  The city is crawling with university students, and the night life is a blast.

9. Conwy, North Wales

While Conway may be difficult to get to, it is universally underrated.   This county is filled with British and medieval  history and it has the castles to prove it.  Take a hike through the endless valleys of Northern Wales, but whatever you do don’t forget to check out the world famous Bodnant Gardens.  These gardens are so beautiful you will feel like you are walking through a fairy tale!

10. Prague, Czech Republic

Flights from London: £44

Prague is packed with beauty and art, and supposedly the best beer in Europe.  This inexpensive city will draw you in with its bohemian allure and unique culture.  Explore the Prague castle, then treat yourself to a nice dinner on a boat as you take in the city lights on the water.
