Celebrity Hoarders You Never Knew Had A Problem

Every time your room begins to get messy, you can take comfort in the existence of celebrity hoarders. If the extremely rich, who have an entire staff of cleaners to pick up after them, can go out of their way to make a mess of their home, then your floor-drobe isn’t such a big deal anymore. Celebrity hoarders have a unique condition of being wealthy enough to buy whatever they want, with high enough status that the yes-men around them can’t critique their weird collections and messy mansions. If you’re obsessed with how the other half lives, it’s important to see how a few live in cluttered and strange conditions.

Lisa Kudrow

Kudrow’s famous hair-brained role of Phoebe in ‘Friends’ affirms her as a relatable though wacky celebrity. Kudrow struggles to let go of emotionally infused, though completely redundant items like old faxes, planners, and papers. She may be the only A-lister who even owns a fax document, nowadays. Celebrity hoarders aren’t so different from regular hoarders, who find it difficult to part with items others may consider junk.

Angeline Jolie

In ‘Maleficent’ Jolie had the magical ability to turn into a dragon, but in her real life, she certainly has a dragon’s knack for hoarding. Her home has been rumoured to be a sty filled with junk like pizza boxes, and magazines strewn everywhere. Jolie has also admitted that she has collected knives since she was young, with some of her artisan blades estimated to cost tens of thousands of dollars. She has come under controversy for encouraging her children to follow her example and start knife collections. While dangerous for young kids to have knives, the act is also trying to normalise her own massive hoards by cheering them into the same pursuit.

Kristen Chenoweth

The pint-sized Broadway mega-star has a compulsion to stash away something at least useful by celebrity hoarder standards. Chenoweth stashes quarters away in jars throughout her house. Famous for playing Glinda in ‘Wicked’, Chenoweth started out just trying to save money for the laundromat, but now her obsession for saving has left her out of control, with money stashed like it’s going out of style.

Nicholas Cage

When he’s not stealing the Declaration Of Independence or playing his own twin brother in ‘Adaptions’, Nicholas Cage’s favourite past-time is collecting shrunken heads. He has many other creepy collections, such as skulls. He owns a 67-million-year-old Dinosaur skull. Even when the goods aren’t stolen, they are artifacts that really should belong in a museum, not a celebrity hoarders’ collection.

Mariah Carey

This star collects “all things feminine.” Apparently, that means expensive lingerie and empty perfume bottles. Carey can’t stop herself from buying ladies underwear while travelling, insisting that each piece is unique and unlike anything else she owns. The desire to own every single type of a particular item is definitely the trademark of a hoarder, even celebrity hoarders.

Jack White

The White Stripes frontman is another collector of creepy variety. His obsession is taxidermized and preserved animals. Some celebrity hoarders make their collections famous, and White’s was even featured on an episode of ‘American Pickers.’ When they offered to buy some of his animals and relieve him of his problem, he refused.

Will Ferrell

If you want an example of celebrity hoarders who sink way too much money into their collections, look no further than Buddy the Elf, Will Ferrell. Ferrell has a bad case of Bird Flu, nay, Bird Fever. He has spent roughly 7.8 million dollars on rare birds. At least they are alive, compared to some other animal collections. He cherishes the birds on a slightly strange level, even bringing them onto Conan interviews.
