Whether you’re at school, college, or work, it’s easy to fall behind on your to-do list. Different tasks are constantly piling up, some you write down on a piece of paper (which is almost always lost), some are buried somewhere in a forgotten e-mail, and others are simply forgotten the moment you hear them. This is when a bullet journal becomes your perfect solution! Use these 10-page ideas to get your bullet journal started and get your life organised!
One of the most important pages in your bullet journal is your monthly spread. At the start of each month, draw out a calendar and fill in as much as you can. Classes, events, parties, tests – this allows you to see everything you have coming up over the next few weeks. This way, you can manage your time better and avoid plans and deadlines creeping up on you!
Dedicate at least one page in your bullet journal to writing down absolutely everything that’s on your mind. Include errands, ideas, reminders and worries. Getting down everything you’re thinking about will make you feel less stressed and overwhelmed, keeping you more focused and organised.
Try to take the time to do this every week. Make a meal plan of breakfasts, lunches and dinners for each day of the week and use this to write yourself a grocery list. This will help you to only buy what you really need and avoid wandering aimlessly through the supermarket aisles. Using your bullet journal to organise your meals will also help you to stick to healthier options rather than grabbing takeaways or skipping meals.
Another job for the beginning of the month. Draw out your sleep log and try to fill it in when you wake up each morning. This will help you to be more conscious of what time you’re going to bed and waking up in the morning, and most importantly, how much sleep you’re getting. You will start to notice patterns in your sleep schedule, becoming more aware of how you feel on different levels of sleep to find your optimum sleeping pattern!
This will be one of the most useful of your bullet journal pages, but also the most challenging to stick to. Choose 5 or 6 habits that you want to stick to over a week or a month, whether this is exercising, meditating, reading or studying. At the end of each day, fill in whether or not you have completed this task. This serves as a reminder and helps you to develop habits that you find hard to stick to.
Similar to your habit tracker, actually taking the time to write down how you want to spend your morning or evening will help you stick to it. Use your bullet journal to make a plan and look at it each day to perfect your morning or evening routine.
A perfect activity for a Sunday night is setting out your weekly goals in your bullet journal. Writing down a list of tasks you want to achieve by the next Sunday night will help keep you on track with your goals. A bullet journal to-do list can be much more rewarding than a mental to-do list, and will ensure tasks never get forgotten.
Most of us probably have a whole list of books in our head that we’ve been meaning to sit down and read for months, but eventually forget about and never pick up. Try noting these down in your bullet journal to make sure you remember the titles you’ve been hearing about.
If you really look at your to-do list, so many of the items on there can probably be done in 15 minutes or less, but we put them off anyway. Use a page in your bullet journal to write down all of those procrastinated tasks that really only take 15 minutes. This might include unloading the dishwasher, tidying your bedroom, doing a quick workout or a face mask. This will remind you to use your small pockets of time effectively and get through your to-do list twice as fast.
This page of your bullet journal is by far the most important. At the end of each day, take the time to write down your favourite thing about that day. Whether this is seeing a friend, finishing an essay or enjoying your walk to work, it will really make you notice the small, good things even in days that seem difficult or boring.
