8 Body-Positive Influencers You Need To Be Following Right Now

Body positivity is one of the newest movements to take social media by storm and it’s one of the healthiest things in a while.  In a world of diet culture and detox teas, it’s very easy to feel insufficient in yourself and wanting to change everything, from your body to your hair.  But why shouldn’t we love ourselves just as we are?  But we all need some inspiration to start our self-love journey.  With that being said, here are 8 body-positive influencers you need to be following right now.

1. Jameela Jamil (@jameelajamilofficial)

Star of ‘The Good Place’ (which I would highly recommend, FYI), Jameela Jamil official has made it her mission to wage war on diet culture, detox teas and body shaming.  She’s recently made headlines for calling out the Kardashians for promoting detox teas: “Their pockets are lined with the blood and diarrhea of teenage girls.”

2. Gina Susanna (@nourishandeat)

An eating disorder survivor, Gina now advocates for mental health and attends talk around the US and is a NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) ambassador.  For anyone who needs more convincing to follow her, she also has one of the most gorgeous and adorable do

3. Kenzie Brenna (@kenziebrenna)

An actress and speaker about mental health. I’ve attended one of her talks and it was one of the most empowering things I’ve ever been to.  With one of the most real Instagrams I’ve ever seen, she DGAF about what people have to say about her, she owns it!

4. Megan Jayne Crabbe (@podyposipanda)

Bestselling author, feminist, and another person who proves that there is no ‘right’ way to look to wear whatever the hell you want.  Bonus points for the awesome hair which match her amazing shoes.

5. Michelle Elman (@scarrednotscared)

Among the body-positive influencers is her. Another lovely lady that I have met, Michelle is a body confidence coach and TedX speaker, who has had many surgeries which have resulted in scars (hence the Instagram handle).  For anyone who loves memes (don’t we all) she also has a body positive meme account, which never fails to make me laugh.

6. Iskra Lawrence (@iskra)

With nearly 4.5 million Instagram followers, Iskra is well-known for her gorgeous modelling, body positivity and work as an Aerie role model and like Gina is an ambassador for NEDA.  She first got famous for sticking a literal finger up at the fat-shamers who trolled her while also eating crisps.  In my opinion: iconic.

7. Chessie King (@chessiekingg)

Chessie is like every fitness blogger but with a difference: her motive and aim isn’t to get as small as possible but to get as strong as possible while also being mentally and physically healthy and enjoying life.  She now has her own range of posters along the body positive and feminist theme, which also make great gifts by the way.  She also designs activewear for anyone who likes to work out in what you can probably tell is one of her favourite colours (orange)!

8. Allison Kimmey (@allisonkimmey)

She’s one of the coolest body-positive influencers. Her tagline is: “Just do you, Babe!” and I think that’s pretty damn accurate for her whole Instagram.  Her main goal is to let everyone know that they weren’t born to take up as little space as possible but to shine our light wherever she goes.  As you can see, her smile looks like it does pretty much light up every room she goes into.

So there are my personal 8 body positive influencers that you need to be following right now.  Do you have any to add to the list?  Let us know down below!
