Best Ways To Unwind After A Stressful Day At Work
Work can be fun, boring or just plain stressful. If you’ve had a bad day at work or your workload just keeps piling up, you’ve come to the right place! Here are the best ways to unwind after a stressful day at work.
1. Meditation
For those of you that don’t meditate are probably thinking that this idea is cheesy or even just a little bit extreme. However, meditation can really help you become calm and focus on something other than work.
You can ask a friend to meditate with you and together you’ll bounce off each other’s vibes and energy.
2. Watch a Film
There’s nothing like a good film to distract you away from a stressful day at work. Put on a good chick flick, rom-com or horror to escape reality for a while. Maybe grab some friends and have a movie night or watch a whole Netflix series from start to finish.
3. Listen to Your Favourite Playlist
Listening to songs will definitely help you either lift or dampen your mood. Definitely, do the former by creating a playlist of your favourite songs that will get you dancing and on your feet.
You can create your own playlist on music platforms such as Spotify or Youtube and regularly update them. Listening to your playlist during a workout can also help motivate you further.
4. Vent Out Your Frustrations
It’s never good to keep your thoughts and feelings bottled up because one day they’ll probably build-up to the point that you explode. It’s always healthy to vent out your frustrations every now and again.
Vent out to your mom, girlfriend/boyfriend or best friend and once you vent out your frustrations after a stressful day at work, you’ll feel a whole lot better. You can do this face to face or over the phone and it’ll really help you just get everything off your chest and start afresh the following day.
5. Do a Workout
Working out will release endorphins and improve your mood. Go out for a run or a walk in the park or if it’s raining, do a home workout. Ask a friend to be your training buddy and make it a daily or weekly thing you do. You can dedicate a day or certain days in the week where you can de-stress.
6. Have a Massage
Stress will take a toll on your body and you’ll find that your body aches or feels uncomfortable. Having a massage can really help you relax and get rid of all those aches and pains. Pamper yourself at the spa or ask your significant other to give you a massage.
7. Breathe
Breathing exercises can really help you relax. Taking that time out of your day to inhale and exhale can help calm your mind in the same way meditation can.
Breathe in for five seconds and hold before exhaling slowly and then repeat. This will help you solely on inhaling and exhaling.
8. Make Sure You Get Enough Sleep
Sleep the stress away and make sure you get your eight hours of sleep every night. If you have had a stressful day at work, the last thing you would want is to not get enough sleep and then wake up feeling cranky.
Getting enough sleep will help improve your mood and allows your body to fully rest. You’ll also feel energised and motivated for the day.
