Best Ways To Cure A Hangover ASAP

Going on a night out with your friends and getting absolutely wasted might seem like a really good idea until you wake up the next day with a massive hangover. Hangovers probably make you question why you chose to drink so much in the first place but you know you’ll probably do it all over again next weekend.

If you’re currently going through a hangover and you’re in need of a cure, you’ve come to the right place. Here are the best ways to cure a hangover ASAP!

1. Drink Water

Alcohol can make you pee a lot (remember all those countless trips to the bathroom?) and can lead to dehydration where you lose fluids and electrolytes which help you function normally.

You can prevent yourself from getting hangovers by drinking water in between drinking alcohol. If you’re really bad at doing this, make sure to drink plenty of water the day after. This will help you re-hydrate and reduce your hangover symptoms so drink up!

2. Painkillers

Painkillers do what they say on the tin: kills the pain. If you’re experiencing a hangover right now, you probably have a banging headache and feel like death is warming up.

Take a painkiller to help with your headache and muscle cramps. Painkillers work relatively fast and will help you feel better (and not so crappy!) if you’re looking for a quick (but temporary cure) for your hangover.

3. Eat a Good Breakfast

If you drank way too much on your night out and found yourself throwing up, you’ll have an empty stomach and need to fill it up with some good, healthy food.

Eating a good hearty breakfast is a well-known remedy for hangovers and one worth keeping in mind if you have regular hangovers. A good breakfast will make sure you maintain your blood sugar levels as low blood sugar levels can cause hangover symptoms like nausea, tiredness, and weakness. Eating a good breakfast will help you cure your hangover in no time!

4. Antioxidants

Drinking alcohol can cause your body oxidative stress and leads to your body producing free radicals. Oxidative stress is an imbalance between free radicals (toxic byproducts of oxygen metabolism) and antioxidants which can cause significant damage to cells and tissues in your body.

To prevent this from happening, take antioxidants that will help diminish these free radicals. Good dietary sources of antioxidants include berries, grapes, carrots, ginger, dark chocolate and nuts, and seeds. Not only will this help you in the short-term with your current hangover but it will help your body out in the long-term as well.

5. Drink Coffee/Tea

If you’re a coffee-lover, you’re probably already on a coffee first thing when you wake up with a hangover.

As you probably know, coffee acts as a stimulant which will help you immediately wake up and instantly make you feel more refreshed and not so tired. Coffee, green and black tea also include antioxidants which can also help reduce the hangover symptoms you have.

6. Sleep

If you have a hangover, sleep it off. You might have been up all night from drinking so much alcohol (too many Jägerbombs?) or have trouble sleeping after your heavy night out but a lack of sleep might aggravate your hangover symptoms the day after.

With your hangover, the last thing you probably want to do anyway is to get out of your bed. By sleeping it off or getting enough sleep, this will help reduce the severity of your hangover symptoms and make things (hopefully) a bit more bearable for you.
