With a variety of cuisines on offer, from Italian to Thai to traditional British fish and chips, Hartlepool is a northern seaside town with a lot to offer. Visiting our region some time soon? If you’re looking for somewhere to eat out, here are five of the best places to eat in Hartlepool:

1. Sambuca

20-21 Church Street, Hartlepool, TS24 7DH

Sambuca is a traditional Italian restaurant in the town centre and is popular with locals and visitors alike. This lovely little restaurant serves good quality food at affordable prices and is probably my favourite place to eat in Hartlepool. It offers a three-course daily lunch special including any pizza or pasta as your main and a bargain price tag of only £4.95 per person! Sambuca also has an extensive evening menu, serves a lovely Sunday lunch and holds cut-price Steak Nights on Mondays and Tuesdays. Open from 12pm seven days a week, with friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble, Sambuca is perfect for any occasion from date nights to family meals to work nights out. Booking is recommended on an evening, especially if you have a large party, as this local favourite fills up fast even mid-week!  If you’re in town, this is definitely not one to miss!

2. Fish Face

36 The Front, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool, TS25 1BS

Fish Face is the newest of several family-run fish and chip restaurants on Seaton Carew’s front. Open until late seven days a week and conveniently located close to the beach and main car park, this restaurant offers an eat in or take out option for those of you just passing through. Fish Face serves everything from traditional fish and chips to lemon sole, haggis, patties, burgers and much more. Particularly popular in the summer months when the sun is out, this relaxed restaurant won a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award in 2016 and features a somewhat quirky bar area where live music is a regular feature on an evening. If you’re looking for good quality, affordable fish and chips, Fish Face is arguably the best chippy in town! This definitely one of the best places to eat in Hartlepool!

3. Casa Del Mar

Casa Del Mar, which first opened its doors in January 2006, is a traditional tapas bar and restaurant, serving an array of Mediterranean sharing dishes. Its name literally translates into English as ‘House of the Sea’, which is rather fitting due to its location on the edge of Hartlepool marina. Offering a mix of Spanish, Mexican and North African cuisines in its huge choice of tapas, this restaurant is highly rated on TripAdvisor, with over 70% of its reviews rated excellent, proving it to be one of the best places to eat in town. Casa Del Mar is open from 12pm until late and Happy Hour takes place between 5-6.30pm, offering three types of tapas per person for £11.45 from a huge menu of choices. Large dishes, fajitas and children’s meals are also available. Don’t forget to try one of their colourful cocktails or famous Sangria’s during your visit!

5. Thai Village Restaurant

3A Navigation Point, Hartlepool Marina, TS24 0UG

Thai Village is Hartlepool’s best Asian Fusion restaurant, offering oriental meals inspired by traditional Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. Its hearty curries, stir fries, seafood, steaks and Fusion meals are cooked to order by three Thai chefs using traditional recipes and fresh produce. Meals can be made spicy or mild as requested and the restaurant also offers English and children’s dishes alongside its more exotic international cuisine.
