The 15 Best Ice Cream Places In London You Need To Visit
Whether it’s Italian gelato or your standard Mr Whippy, all types of ice cream leave you with a smile on your face, a satisfied feeling in your tummy and a little bit of ice cream on your nose. I know good gelato (did I mention I’ve done a year abroad?) and am somewhat a bit of an ice cream geek, and can tell you that these 15 ice cream places in London all have something different and delicious to offer. We don’t get this weather all that often, so enjoy your summer while it lasts with some fabulous icy treats!
1. Unico
This authentic Italian gelateria just off Portabello Road also sells award-winning coffee. They sell the best salted caramel gelato London has to offers, and brings you flavours from the Italian city of Bologna, which has its own ice cream university would you believe.
2. La Gelatiera
La Gelatiera presents you with flavours of the month so you know the seasonal scoops will be fresh and specially-chosen. Apparently, their pistachio flavour is to die for (literally for me as I’m allergic) and they have wild and quirky flavours like porcini mushroom and chocolate (?!) and standard favourites like vanilla for all sorts of gelato lovers. They even do a gluten free cone!
3. Amorino
With branches from Stratford to Camden, and even North America to Africa, Amorino’s beautifully crafted gelato-flowers, are both utterly Instagram-able and utterly delicious! One of the ice cream places in London where you’ll get the prettiest ice cream you’ll ever see.
4. Grom
This Italian brand has now come to London, aren’t we lucky?! The Italian guys that founded Grom started it so that they could make gelato ‘the way it used to be made.’ They promise no additives and all natural ingredients for all their Italian flavours, which are all gluten-free.
5. Gelateria 3Bis
Gelateria 3Bis in Borough Market is the No 1. fave for a lot of gelato lovers. Their ice cream is served with their branded 3Bis biscuit, and they also do hot chocolate Chocoshots for the colder months!
6. Chin Chin Labs
Chin Chin Lab’s ice cream is made with liquid nitrogen, and what’s sexier than a mixture between food and science? Their cookies and cookie-ice-cream sandwiches are scrumptious too, and they do more exotic flavours like Olive Oil and Black Tahini Halva.
7. Udderlicious Ice Cream
Udderlicious offers lots of vegan flavours, like their chocolate and sea salt sorbet! Get the best meal of your day a Udderlicious, which really does have Udder-ly delicious ice cream!
8. Pan-n-Ice
Last year’s ice cream craze still hasn’t quite died down and their take on classic ice cream in the shape of crafted rolls, lighter in taste than regular gelato shows that sometimes it IS okay to play with your food! This Thai-inspired trend is moreish and so pretty to look at.
9. Snowflake Luxury Gelato
You can find Snowflake Luxury Gelato in Selfridges, where they are currently selling their awesome Avo-latos! This Avocado gelato is made from fresh gelato, is served in an avocado skin and has an edible peanut butter stone! It really is one for millennials. You can also buy adorable baby gelato if you’re not feeling a big scoop, or eat your gelato with a warm gooey brownie on the side.
10. Gaza Café
This Korean Café serves a speciality shaved ice dessert called bingsu. You can order this deliciously refreshing dessert topped with chopped fresh fruit and condensed milk. Absolutely yum.
11. Morelli’s Gelato
Morelli’s luxurious and fancy flavours will certainly tickle your fancy! The ice cream comes as soft serve and traditional gelato scoops. It also finds itself in Covent Garden, which appears to be one of the great ice cream places in London!
12. Yorica!
Did you know Oreos are vegan?! Both Yorica’s toppings and ice cream are 100% vegan, so you can happily consume all their goods without an ounce of dairy-induced guilt. The lovely lads and ladies behind the counter are always a pleasure to chat to too.
13. Soft Serve Society
Now, this I’d go to every single event for this society. I’d pay membership and all. The Soft Serve Society’s ice creams look like a Helter Skelter from the ice-cream gods. Their charcoal soft serve ice creams are particularly fun looking, and while they might not seem like they fit perfectly into your summer vibes, they’re also a bit too cool not to cop.
14. Milk Train
The soft fluffy clouds scooped beneath the ice cream scoops at The Milk Train are ones for those with a super-sweet tooth! If you’re giving Covent Garden a visit you should definitely hop onto the Milk Train.
15. A Good Ol’ Ice Cream Van
Sometimes the simple things in life are best- like a 99 Flake from the van down the street. Due to inflation, however, they’re no longer 99p! The cheek. Check the prices before you fork out- you don’t want to get scammed at the South Bank for a 4 quid Mr Whippy.
