8 Best DIY Coconut Oil Hair Masks To Make Your Hair Glow

We’ve already spoken about how moisturising coconut oil is and how much good it can do for you and your hair.  But some people may be lost: how are you meant to use these products to do you good?  Well, I’m here to help you: here are the 8 best DIY coconut oil hair masks to make your hair glow.

1. Keep it simple

So, the best place to start is probably just with plain coconut oil.  It can be put on your hair overnight and washed off in the morning for an extra element of moisture for your hair.  Not only is this the easiest, cheapest and quickest hair mask.  It may not be quite as amazing as other masks with extra ingredients, but it will, undoubtedly, leave your hair with a soft touch and blinding shine.

2. Sweeten it up

Honey is used in a lot of hair mask recipes as it is, but why not mix the two together?  Mix it together on a warming plate until soft, chuck it on your hair and leave it for 15-20 minutes before washing out.  For more info about what honey does for the hair: it has antioxidant properties, strengthens the hair follicles, and helps to keep moisture in your hair.

3. For dry and damaged hair

Whisk an egg, mix in half a mashed avocado and then a couple of spoons of coconut oil.  As usual, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.  Avocados are full of vitamins B and E, which help with hair growth and repairing scalp damage, which is why they work so well here.

4. Fruity mix

Mix bananas, honey and coconut oil together for a once a week hair mask.  If anyone is wondering why the banana is good for this recipe, bananas help reduce dandruff, promotes hair elasticity and smoothness.

5. 2 benefits in one

Almost everyone knows that argan oil is great for our hair, I use it about twice a week to help prevent my hair from getting dry.  So why not mix the two together?  Heat up the coconut oil slightly so it softens and then mix in a couple of spoons of argan oil, massage onto the scalp and voila!  Once washed off your hair will be soft and silky once more.

6. Cool it down

Add aloe vera gel to the coconut oil as it helps to calm down inflamed skin and scalp infections.  Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wash off.  To make it easier to wash off, also make sure you use a shower cap when it’s on your hair to prevent it from drying out.  If anyone is wondering what to do with all the leftover aloe vera gel, there are so many benefits online, but to name a few: after-sun, insect bites and cooking burns.

7. Citrus Fresh

Lemon juice and nourish the scalp and also cleans it (see all of the cleaning tutorials which use lemon as the wonder ingredient).  Mix the juice of half a lemon into the coconut oil and place onto your hair for a dandruff wonder cure.

8. Oil times 2

Mix some vitamin E oil into the coconut oil to get all the benefits with none of the recipe makings.  Vitamin E oil will improve hair strength alongside the coconut oil which will hydrate and reduce fizziness in hair.
