December is here, and we all know what that means: Christmas is upon us. Advent calendars are a go, the tree is flashing away and you’ve eaten enough mince pies to last a lifetime (okay, until tomorrow), so all that’s left is a day/week/month in front of the TV and you’ve got the season’s spirit nailed. As a mild (translation: obsessive) festive fan myself, I’ve rounded up the best Christmas films out there. Better grab the popcorn.
‘We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.’ Watch Buddy the elf as he lives the dream. Sweets for breakfast? Erm, yes please. Everyone knows this is one of the best Christmas films EVER.
With an all-star cast (I’m talking Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Kate Winslet) this December classic wins every time.
Another one with a string of a-listers to boast of, Love Actually is a laugh-then-cry-then-laugh-again must-see. As if I need another reason to love Richard Curtis.
Child-star Mara Wilson sleighs (pun 100% intended) in this holiday banger. Moral of the story: Santa is defo real.
Not your average boy-with-toy-sheep nativity; this film puts my school play to shame, and comes packed with a whole load of laughs along with it.
This is the perfect way to get some inspo for those I-swear-there’s-a-burglar-downstairs kinda nights. All you need: a pot of grease, a toy train and a hell-of-a-creepy basement. Sorted.
A heartwarming tearjerker, It’s a Wonderful Life may be in black and white, but it’s no less amazing and will certainly leave you feeling pretty darn good about yourself.
Is it really Christmas if you haven’t seen The Snowman yet? No my friend, no it is not. Time to get watching.
It’s not everyday you stumble across a Christmas film with guns, but today isn’t every day. Prepare to have your fluffy reindeer socks knocked off.
Loosely based on Charles Dickens’ novel, this film is the ultimate way to feel cultured whilst watching a puppet frog pretend to be Scrooge’s clerk. Not as weird as it sounds.
