Barbecue Hacks You Need To Know About

The warm weather is always a great excuse to get the barbecue out and have a little get together. Of course, with grilled food comes mess and stick and a few pieces that may have dropped and melted away amongst the flames. You won’t have to worry about these problems anymore! Here are some barbecue hacks to help fancy up your barbecue servings and minimise mess in the process.

Stop fish sticking

Salmon, mackerel, sole. We all love a nice piece of fish at a barbecue, but not when half of it has taken to the coal instead of our mouths. We start off with one of the most simple barbecue hacks for grilling fish. Just cut up slices of lemon and slide them under your fish, covering the whole of the bottom side. Not only will this mean that your fish can cook through without any sticking or problems picking it up off the grill, but the lemon will add a good hint of flavour to the slice as well.

Keep food hot

You’ve cooked all of this lovely food but in no time that its hit the plate and you’re ready to serve, it gets cold! To everyone’s disappointment, what should be a nice hot sizzling meal is lukewarm at best and you’re left with a cold reception from your guests. Oh dear. Perhaps one of the barbecue hacks that we tend to forget is that you can use aluminium foil to keep your food hot, both off and on the grill. Once the food is cooked, wrap it up in foil or drop it in a foil container.

Keep meat juicy

There is a way to keep your burgers from drying out from the excessive grilling. Using this hack you can also add a hint of flavour to your burger while keeping it neat at the same time. Grab a whole onion and slice a thick layer from around the onion. Slide your patty into the onion and cook it on the grill as it is. The onion layer will soak some of the juices and keep the oil and flavour contained within the burger. No more dripping grease!

Clean easy

Get rid of burnt chunks quicker. One of the best barbecue hacks to make the cleaning process easier uses two of the aforementioned hacks. You can use aluminium foil to scratch off the burnt chunks on your grilling tray, post cooking. Alternatively, you could use a half of a whole onion cut top-ways and slide it along your grill tray. This will work to both remove grease and disinfect the grill!

Fill your grill to the max

So you don’t have much space on your grill to cook some of your foods at the same time? Grab some aluminium cans from finished canned food you have from your cupboard (make sure you’ve taken the paper off or it will burn!). Place them on the grill between the small gaps around your food and place another tray on top of the cans. This will give you more room so some of your food can cook above. This is a great hack if you don’t have another shelf in your grill. You could crisp some burger buns or vegetables this way without one or the other getting cold. This is one of the lesser known barbecue hacks that will do you justice immediately!

Flip food easy

Is your food a flippin’ nuisance? So you have meats on the grill that are a bit harder to roll, like sausages; or vegetables like aubergines. There’s an easier way to getting all sides of the food in question well grilled. Use skewers to flip easy. Stick one or more skewers through either end of your food (joining them together) and you can flip them on the grill by hand without the fuss of trying to get all the sides well cooked.
