Awesome Outdoor Bars To Check Out in Birmingham This Summer

Outdoor bars become even more appealing as Summer draws near – we’d be silly not to make the most of the (hopefully) warm weather and longer days. There are plenty of bars to choose from in Birmingham, but not all of them have outdoor bars ready for you to order your glass of Pimm’s, sit back and enjoy the sunshine. Whether it’s a traditional pub you’re looking for or a fancy restaurant with a view, here are a few places that do!

1. The Wellington

If you love a hearty pub meal, this is your go to place. Not only is it close to Birmingham New Street train station, but they also have a brilliant selection of real ales for you to choose from (with the Black Country ales being firm favourites). Of course, if real ales aren’t for you, they also serve lagers, ciders and whiskies – to be honest, any alcoholic drink you can think of. This place is perfect for those of you looking for something a little bit more traditional.

2. The Distillery

A great place to go if you’re looking for a meal with a view, The Distillery is situated in Brindleyplace right next to the canal. Being Birmingham’s newest Gin Distillery, not surprisingly they serve a large variety of gins (anyone else obsessed with unicorn gin these days?), as well as some excellent food. You’ll feel so relaxed on their expansive terrace, watching the canal boats go by, that you’ll soon lose count of how many gins you’ve indulged in…

3. The Lord Clifden

Based in the rather upmarket Jewellery Quarter, The Lord Clifden (an equally swanky name, if you ask me) never fails to disappoint. This pub won ‘The Best Entertainment Pub’ in the UK in 2015, and it’s hardly difficult to see why – they have nine large TV screens ready for all their sports-loving customers, as well as free table tennis and football! You can imagine that this is a very popular choice for anyone who loves eating and drinking somewhere lively. Oh, and if you do go, make sure you look out for their extensive collection of Urban Street Art!

4. The High Field

If you’re not just looking for a place to eat and drink, but somewhere to stay too, this is a great option. The High Field also have a boutique hotel right next door, The High Field Town House, which has twelve beautifully designed ensuite rooms. So if you can’t get enough of their typically British food or their lovely garden, you know what to do: book a room for the night and enjoy it all again the day after. If this isn’t enough to persuade you, you should know that the restaurant staff really are first-class at providing quick service, as well as efficiently handling any dietary requirements!

5. Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar And Grill

If you are into celebrity chefs, this restaurant is the place to visit. Located at the top of The Cube building in The Mailbox district, you’ll be taken aback by the panoramic views of Birmingham’s skyline that you are presented with immediately upon arrival. Once your pay cheque comes in (trust me, this place offers what one might call ‘fine dining’), you really should treat yourself to such an atmospheric experience. If you go on a weekend you might even get to hear some live music!

There’s something really relaxing about visiting outdoor bars in summer – it certainly beats having to wrap up warmly! Can you recommend any in Birmingham? Let us know in the comments below!
