Avengers: Infinity War Quotes That Will Make You Think Differently
Avengers: Infinity War is nothing short of an emotional roller coaster that left all our heads spinning – I mean come on a villain actually won! Especially for those of us (probably most of us) who haven’t read the Marvel comics. After having seen it about 50 times, I’ve learned that there’s something that we can all take away from this Marvel blockbuster. Here are some Infinity war quotes that really stand out.
Ebony Maw: ”You may think this is suffering, no… it is salvation”
We start off with Ebony Maw from the blockbuster’s opening. The Black Order have near enough obliterated the Asgardian ship as he preaches this word of encouragement to the dead. Although, the reception of this quote doesn’t have to be as bleak as the story intends. Instead it connotes that the bad events that are taking place in your life may in fact bring about some of kind of good in the future. The important point to remember here is that everything is temporary and no situation lasts forever.
Thanos: ”Dread it… run from it… destiny arrives all the same”
The ultimate villain himself. His words of wisdom (or insanity to some) are plentiful throughout the film. Thanos’ declaration that what will happen is inevitable may be something we all need to hear. Yes, we may have been told many times that our future is what we make it, but sometimes some things are just meant to happen. The message here: there’s no point in fretting over things that we can’t control and what is meant to be will be. You know, ‘que será será’ and all.
Wong: ”Attachment to the physical is detachment from the spiritual”
One of the fan favourite conversations of the film, Wong brings some spiritual intellect to our material world with this line. Although this comment was aimed at the mere choice to not carry money while he deliberates with Dr. Strange over what to eat, Wong is definitely on to something. If we think about how wrapped up we are in this digital age; being so attached to our phones with social media to occupy us; looking for the next best thing to buy and so on, we forget about our spiritual being. You don’t have to be a guru to be able to relate to this quote. Just remember to stay aware and engage with your inner self every once in a while.
Gamora: ”The entire time I knew Thanos, he only ever had one goal… to bring balance to the universe by wiping out half of all life”
While adopting this goal is not the best motive for leadership, it does make for good advice. The message: all great leaders have clear goals. In setting this out from the start, Thanos managed to actually achieve his objective. If there is something you want to accomplish then setting a clear goal will help you do so. This is one of many attributes that make for great leadership skills. Hey, if the mad Titan has the perseverance to achieve his goals, you just might have a chance!
Peter Quill: ”I like your plan, except it sucks, so let me do the plan and that way it might be really good”
Never be afraid to speak your mind. Peter Quill is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, even when actively undermined by his fellow guardians. However, this doesn’t stop him from making a point. The message here is to take charge, be confident and speak up when you want to, and you could go very far.
Okoye’s conversation with T’Challa
Okoye: ”When you said that we were going to open up Wakanda to the rest of the world this is not what I imagined”
T’chala: ”And what did you imagine?”
Okoye: ”The Olympics, maybe even a Starbucks”
To end off on another one of the fan favourite conversations of the movie. As Okoye’s observation makes clear: things aren’t always what you expect them to be!
