Everyone knows that the best way to end a good week or to celebrate some great news in Manchester is to head out to the best place in town to get something to eat. But where do you go when there are just so many choices? How do you decide?

Here is a shortlist of 20 amazing restaurants in Manchester, home to thousands of fantastic recipes you just have to try out. Whilst there is always something new popping up in the Northern Quarter or just around the corner from Deansgate, these are some firm favourites from the past few years. Work your way through slowly, savour your finds and don’t forget to share around any new places you might find that could be added to this list.

1. Rudy’s Pizza

Located just outside of the Northern Quarter in Ancoats, Rudy’s Pizza is a small business which makes some of the most sensational pizza you’ll ever taste. They have a secret dough recipe that will blow your mind, with just a pinch of basil and oregon to top everything off. Not one to miss.

2. The Pasta Factory

Love pasta but want a few more options than you can currently make at home? Head to the Pasta Factory for a range of affordable, delicious options that will provide you cooking inspiration for weeks to come.

7. Annies

This tea room is just around the corner from the Royal Exchange theatre making it the go to place before your show or if you’re just in the area. Order some tea and cakes to enjoy with friends, but make sure you take some photos first as these delicious desserts are beyond instagrammable!

At Zaytoon you can try everything from perfectly prepared Vegetarian/Vegan dishes to traditional Mediterranean sea food. It’s a place to go to to please everyone as the menu has so much potential and the staff are always pleased to help. I can highly recommend the Sea Bass.

9. Mylahore

Another Indian restaurant which food you won’t be able to stop thinking about is Mylahore. Also located on the curry mile, don’t miss out on the chance to try some award winning dishes. Be sure to book in advance though to miss out on the crowds!

There is nothing more Northern than a pie and this is the place to get spoiled for choice. The pastry is always crisp to perfection, with friendly staff and a menu to die for.

11. Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar

For an Italian dining experience you won’t forget in a hurry, make reservations at Salvi’s Mozzarella bar. The recipes are incredibly authentic and blend just the right amount of spice and of course, mozzarella!

Salvi’s is located in this area, but there are also so many other places to try if you want to sample something else. The Corn Exchange is one of the most chic areas in all of Central Manchester, hidden as usual in plain sight and with options that will please everyone.

13. Fress

Delicious but also healthy, Fress is exactly what it implies on the label – Fresh! Stop by to embrace your inner millennial with some Avacado toast or have a quick salad on your way to work. The breakfast food is by far the most popular array of options though, so I highly suggest you begin here.
