The sun is out, and you’re wondering what to do? Think of activities to do by yourself. Sometimes your friends are just busy, gone on holidays, and you are actually not against spending some alone-time at all. Doing activities on your own is a good way to practice patience, imagination and to strengthen your degree of independence. Or on a simpler level, you can just discover more about the place where you live.
Camden Town is the best place to get lost in. To be honest, you can never really be alone in Camden- not really… Visit the food market and Chalk Farm, take a picture with the statue of Amy Winehouse, or go to the zoo, which is located nearby. Taste the great foods as well. There is a lot to do, to see and to experience in Camden. Much more than one of many activities to do by yourself, it is a nice way to just relax.
It is sunny and hot outside. You drink water every 5 mins AND you live in a big City AND you like the bus? Buy tickets to a hop on hop off bus, and explore the city with the wind in your hair and to your favourite music. There is always a sense of freedom. It’s really worth the money if you just want to relax without any effort.
Bookstores are fascinating places, don’t you think? Just look what people write about or want to read about this season. Explore new writers and travel within the limits of your mind. Time will fly!
Buy/ take the book you like and enjoy reading it in the park while breathing some fresh air and taking your lungs out. Regents Park is a beautiful place to just rest peacefully in. Absolutely gorgeous, this Royal park of north-west London holds the Open Air Theatre and a lot of cafes and restaurants.
This exhibition takes place at the Southbank Centre and will last until the 11th of August. Discover the art of this tortured Dutch painter, notably known for painting ‘The Starry Night’. Explore how his time in London contributed to his coming of age as an artist, and how art helped him to exteriorise his anxieties about his time.
Definitely to put on your list of activities to do by yourself! Visit the mythic museum and its splendid architecture. Wander around the many rooms and travel the world. There is an outdoor cafe as well, completed with a mini fountain. It’s nice to enjoy the urban setting differently.
During a sunny day out, enjoying nature seems to be like the right thing to do. Discover the River Thames, and get your dose of fresh air.
Tower of London is great to visit! Enjoy this Royal castle and fortress located on the River Thames, and learn a little bit more about the city you live in on your day off. Have a picnic and enjoy the sun. Don’t forget your sunglasses!
This is one of the best activities to do by yourself. Go shopping in your favourite neighbourhood: if you’re a fan of vintage, go to Portobello market or Camden Town. You can also just go shopping on the busy Oxford Street if you’re more of a high street fan. Covent Garden has a lot of exclusive boutiques as well.
Check out websites such as Time Out, and look if some events are organised in your neighbourhood. Go to a free gig, to go see an exhibition in a not so famous museum or watch a movie in an open-air theatre (it’s the trend now).
