7 Accessories To Take Your Outfit To The Next Level

Accessories are the icing on the cake when it comes to fashion. Adding accessories to a look can really bring an outfit together and make it completely unique by bringing in personality through contrast and pops of colour. Your outfit can go from being “ok” to a stand out fashion statement just by adding some jewellery or popping on a belt or hat. Here’s our list of 7 accessories that can take your outfit to the next level!

1. A Beret

Aside from keeping your head warm, berets have been a staple accessory since 2018 and it looks like they’re here to stay. To bring your outfit to the next level this year, add a beret that coordinates with your look. They’re available in so many colours and designs, and a wide range of retailers are stocking up on this classic hat. Adding a beret that’s a vibrant colour, like red, mustard yellow or green really adds personality to your look and makes you stand out from the crowd. To make it a real fashion statement match your beret to your bag, shoes or belt.

A baker boy hat is another classic hat style that’s been rapidly gaining popularity since the last year. 2019 will be a year for baker boy hats, so go and grab one while it’s still cold out! These hats are often worn in more neutral colours, with black and greys being a favourite that you’ll always find stocked by retailers. They’re chic, and the neutral colours make it an easy match to any outfit. Baker boy hats come in bright colours too if you’re feeling unique, use coordinated colours to make a show-stopping look.

Pearls are timeless and putting on a pair of pearl earrings can definitely create a sense of elegance and class. Although subtle, the iridescent white orbs stand out in a look and can really bring personality to your outfit. From a floral spring dress outfit to a more formal suit, pearl earrings can complete so many looks.

4. Tassel Earrings

Tassel earrings blew up in summer 2018 but from the looks of it, they’ll be back for another year. Choose a colour that stands out against your hair and matches your outfit. For example, avoid wearing black tassel earrings if you have dark hair, as they won’t show. If you’re really adamant on that colour, then make sure to tie your hair up so that your earrings get their moment to shine. Tassel earrings also add a chill but dressed up vibe, bringing your spring and summer looks to the next level. Long earrings also make your face appear longer which is a perk for those with round or square faces.

5. Colourful Belts

Belts in neutral colours like black and browns work fine, but to bring your outfit up a notch then try using colourful belts. Match or contrast them to your shoes, makeup and other accessories to really bring the colour out. Belts also sinch in the waist (or give that illusion) accentuating your curves and giving you more of an hourglass figure.

This 90s trend is still going strong and has shown no signs of stopping. There are so many variations of chokers from the classic black to the more extra bejewelled necklaces with hanging pendants. Whatever style you’re going for there will be a choker to match. Chokers accentuate the neck and can draw the focus of your outfit up. It’s a simple accessory but your outfit will draw eyes from head to toe.

Practical and fashionable, statement sunglasses are the best way to dress up a plain top and trousers. Whether you’re into a classic style, retro frames, or more modern shapes, any cool pair of sunglasses can add a new dynamic and hint of personality to your look. So remember to whip out the shades this summer – you’ll look great and won’t be caught constantly squinting in pictures.
